Is UCF BB a "high Major" now cuz their FB team won a Bowl Game?

When you look at TV contracts & exposure or sneaker/apparel deals the difference between high major & mid major becomes undeniably evident. If there wasn't such a huge difference then there wouldn't be so many schools vying for a BE invite. Hi/Mid major has nothing to do with winning & losing on the court like redman tries to make it seem when taking shots at SHU. The increased parity on the court nowadays hasn't spread to the $$ part of cbb. That's why these labels are really conference labels not team label. I think BCS conference is the lazy & irrelevant label not High/Mid Major conference. But I do agree it's out dated when it comes to judging the on court strength of programs.

senditinjerome wrote:UCF is a BCS buster in FB...i've never heard anyone refer to an upstart college FB team from a non-power conference as a "mid-major". However, now that the BCS is officially dismantled, they have to come up with a new moniker.
AAC is in a grey area regarding b-ball...they're definitely not a "major", but on the other hand, they're much better than a mid-major (the A-10 for instance).

The mid major label was invented by the coach of a Catholic mid major school strictly in reference to college basketball.
