They must've not watched LJ Peak play this year, that's basically where he was ranked last year this time. The 2013-14 South Carolina player of the year is much better than top 70 more like top 35.

Guess there is a lot of differences in the ranking services.
It's hard to imagine ESPN could rate VCU's class as #14, and it not be in this group's top 30.

Looking for big things from X's class next year, and the years after.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

So, for those around here who are worried about FoxSports not coming around, because it will be coming around nicely as we move forward, we appear to have:

- Solid brands across the board with respect to our schools.
- A basketball-mainly emphasis.
- Strong markets in which we play.
- MSG-based conference tournament.

This recruiting hall should make it clear to anyone that the Big East will be a force moving forward. I make that statement on the basis of being fully confident that the Big East will do very well in the NCAA Tournament as we move forward.

Georgetown just added Trey Mourning Alonzo's son to this year's recruiting class. Late bloomer, but was targeted by Duke and Florida in addition to Georgetown.

Make that 21 for the Big East.

Earlier today, Xavier added their fifth Rivals 150 commitment from the HS Class of 2014:

PG Larry Austin, # 117 in Rivals 150: https://rivals.yahoo.com/xavier/basketb ... j7tVh8u5B4

Xavier's Freshman Class: https://rivals.yahoo.com/xavier/basketb ... ments/2014

Very impressive. SG Edmond Sumner is unranked by Rivals, but Chris Mack's other five commitments are.

Landing a highly-rated recruiting class does not always work out as anticipated.

According to Rivals, Xavier’s HS Class of 2014 is the school’s best recruiting class since Rivals began their player ratings in 2002.

Prior to that, Xavier’s HS Class of 2010 was the school’s best recruiting class.

Men's Basketball Coach Chris Mack And His Staff Secure A Top 20 Recruiting Class

Nov. 11, 2009

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University head basketball coach Chris Mack announced today that he has received four signed national letters of intent from young men who will be a part of the Xavier team beginning with the 2010-11 season, an impressive list of signees which earned Xavier a Top 20 recruiting class ranking by Rivals.com and many other experts.

The signees include Jay Canty, a 6-5, 185-pound guard/forward from Oak Ridge (NC) Military Academy; Jordan Latham, a 6-8, 220-pound forward from City College High School in Baltimore, Md.; Justin Martin, a 6-7, 200-pound forward from Mountain State Academy in Beckley, W.Va.; Griffin McKenzie, a 6-9, 220-pound forward from Cincinnati’s Moeller High School.

Canty, ranked 130th by Rivals.com, …

Latham, ranked 121st by Rivals.com, …

McKenzie, ranked 115th by Rivals.com, …

Martin, ranked 83rd by Rivals.com, …

But Xavier’s highly-touted HS Class of 2010 did not work out as anticipated.

Xavier Musketeers’ 2010-11 Stats: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... musketeers

Canty, Latham, and McKenzie combined for a total of 2.8 PPG during their freshman year at Xavier and transferred to 'lesser' basketball programs (Appalachian State, Loyola-Maryland, and Denver, respectively).

Justin Martin failed to qualify academically for his freshman year at Xavier (the 2010-11 season), and last month, Martin announced that he was transferring from Xavier for his fourth season of college basketball eligibility.

FieldHouse Flyer, I am glad you are worried about the state of the Xavier's incoming class. But you are missing the point. Nothing in life is for guaranteed, but its still a heck of alot better to have a top 20 recruiting class than to not.
