Honestly, it's pretty ridiculous. One run and people start considering them? They weren't considered in the expansion last year, what changed? One season of being called a Cinderella? Would the Big East be considering Detroit if they made the Sweet Sixteen? Or wait, how about Case Western?

The Big East hasn't rumbled about expansion. They haven't put out feelers. Take that for what it's worth.

No matter what dayton does its not good enough for u. Alls you do is trash talk them like a jealous high school girl

First, use your big boy words. You sound like an idiot.

Second, tell me anywhere, where ANYONE in authority in the Big East is saying that they want to expand. It's a pipe dream for teams on the outside looking in, and until the Big East says that expansion is on the horizon, it's not a factor. A Big East round robin is truly a great scenario for basketball. To expand further just waters down the product.

Why would they release that info at this time? The only fact is that none of us know what is going on behind the scenes.

I agree. Know one knows or they have already made their mind up. Most reports said Dayton and slu would join the next year. But who knows.

About all we do know is there's 10 teams in the Big East, and the league isn't kicking anyone out. It's getting to be boredom time for basketball nuts, so we have to create stuff to talk about. Isn't it a good thing that fanbases want to be involved in your league?

After that, who knows?

I've been trying to step back from this Xavier v. UD crap on THIS BIG EAST BOARD, but I doubt there is one non-UD fan on this board who would ever see a reason for a Xavier basketball fan to be jealous of UD's basketball program.

In fact, PM's point is perfectly valid. Virtually every time I heard Dayton's name mentioned during this year's Tournament, it was as a "Cinderella." This conference isn't looking to add Cinderella's. Dayton's program has certain attributes that should be appealing to the decision makers, if and when they ever get around to discussing their expansion options, but I still honestly believe that UD's location and television market are serious impediments to its appeal.

Beyond that, one year is not a track record, and, frankly, writing from personal experience as a Xavier fan who liked Sean Miller at Xavier and still likes him though he's now at Arizona, I strongly believe that Archie Miller sees his career path as not ending in Dayton, OH. That isn't a knock on Dayton's program, except that it infers that Archie sees his career taking him to an attractive major football school gig, perhaps his alma mater at some point; something that UD cannot provide or overcome with money or offering him the keys to the city. This is the Miller family people. Were they from Southwestern Ohio it may have been a different story, for both Xavier and Dayton, but they're from outside of the 'burgh. Frankly, I doubt that even the geography would have held them had that been a different story. I doubt he'll leave this year, but I also doubt he'll be in Dayton for long, assuming he sustains a successful track record there.

Beyond that, there is a strong argument for the idea that UD fans should pull back a little from this site. It's a free country and this board is no exception, but this is a Big East message board. Yes, this thread is about expansion ideas and discussion. No problem. But it's primarily meant for expansion and discussion ideas from Big East fans. We have some of you on here almost begging for inclusion in the Big East, which cannot be made to happen from anything typed here, while we otherwise have some of you on other boards trashing the Big East, Xavier, Marquette, Fox and about everything else having to do with this conference.

The Case For Dayton thread is like a piece of chewing gum that's been at it for about 24 hours; it's used up. It is most likely that additions will not be made this summer and I'm being kind stating it that way. I recall a UD fan being adamant about knowing that someone whispered in the UD President's ear or the AD's ear that it was coming. That post was embarrassing for that fan when he posted it and it will prove embarrassing again when the Big East goes into the 2014/15 season with 10 teams.

And there are no REPORTS, in the sense that anyone outside the Big East's offices have their hands on a piece of Big East stationary with some official proclamation that additions are forthcoming this year.

Xudash your new thing about Dayton is that miller isn't staying. We all know he will leave in future at some point. That's what happens at schools like Dayton and Xavier. BTW I'm not going anywhere. And they always pick a low seed as a Cinderella they said same thing about Tennessee

It isn't a new thing. It isn't some kind of "angle" I'm playing. Whether you like it or not, the other Xavier brother is now at Arizona. He left a much more established non-BCS program than where Archie is now for a BCS program. I don't know when Archie will leave, but I suspect, again assuming he can continue to be successful, that he'll be gone within 2 to 3 years at the most. The longer the Presidents take to decide on expansion, assuming they do decide on that, the more that may become a factor in their decision making process, along with a number of other criteria that will enter into the mix.

Otherwise, stay here all you want, but at least don't embarrass yourself. Since and including the 2000 season, Tennessee has been to the Tournament 9 times. Those trips included 4 S16's and 1 E8. "They" were absolute idiots if they referred to UT as a Cinderella, even if UT had to come through the play-in bracket.

So, by all means, continue to post about Dayton on this Big East message board until you're blue in the face. What are you going to post about that hasn't already been stated when it comes to UD?

All this anger and arguing between Dayton and Xavier fans would be great for the conference. Not enough bitter rivalries after the departure of Cuse and others.
