Considering what Butler has coming back and coming in, I think they will finish top half of the Big East next year.

Renegotiate possibly adding teams, doing anything to drawl more viewers. There was one Villanova game that drew 11k viewers. IMO the teams left in the Big east are just not that appealing. I think Ackerman has done a horrible job this far in re-branding the league.

I saw our Lake Central Recruit Tyler Wideman last night. He is a wide body that can score, but like many HS hoopers, didn't play a lick of defense. That can be taught at the next level, but it might take him a year or two to figure it out. He literally needed a punch to the face to get his motor started last night, but once he caught one in the kisser, he was awesome offensively. Arsenal Tech, with 6'10" KY recruit Trey Lyles, outlasted Lake Central in the state championship game 63-59. Wideman wasn't on Lyles. Wideman went for 19/12.

I've heard some really great things about Lyles, so playing him close isn't a bad thing by any means.

Are you the one updating STL on Elliott Welmer?

Speaking of Indiana HS players, what do you think of Mike Crawford's ceiling? He showed some good stuff in limited minutes on the offensive end, and SLU is going to ask a lot more out of him this year.

I only saw him once in person, playing for the Tipton Blue Devils. The kid can flat out score from anywhere; threes, twos, and FT. I believe he ended up in the top 30 or 40 all time Indy HS scorers, in with guys like Kyle Macy and Steve Alford. The problem with evaluating HS players is that no one plays defense. So can he create his shot in D1? He is also a smart student (I believe he was academic All State), which means he should have basketball smarts.

What was a little surprising is that Crawford was an excellent golfer. I would have guessed he would have gone to a warmer climate school so at least he could participate in perhaps what is his better sport.

The Dawgs got a visit today from Indy native Trevor Thompson. He is also Buzz's first transfer out of VA Tech. Thompson is 6'11" and just what we need. I believe he went for about 5 and 5 this year for the Hokies. For you Indy natives, he is a Ben Davis Giant grad.

USF PG Josh Heath, son of Stan Heath, will transfer and have three years of eligibility left. Could get a waiver to play right away.

PC mentioned as a possibility. PC really needs a PG as we only have Dunn coming back and he has had major shoulder issues.

Recruiting a PG is definitely high on Cooley's list of priorities. The Friars had a visit this week from Kyron Cartwright, a 3-star PG from Compton, CA, who withdrew his letter of intent from Loyola-Marymount after they fired the coach who recruited him. PC is the only school on his list right now although he's starting to here from other schools.
