As long as he doesn't hire an agent, he can come back.

Reading his quotes and Lavin's quotes he is gone, gone, gone. 2nd round at best in a stacked draft.

Haha, then he's gonna enjoy the D-league.

What an idiot. Late first to mid-second? He needs some new advisors. I watched every SJU game this year and he couldn't hit a free throw to save his life (or our season) and will NOT go drafted. Once again, bad advice and greed sinks another prospect.

can't knock him without knowing all the circumstances. maybe his family really needs money. hiring an agent tells me he wants to play professional bball even if it means going to europe. no reason not to test the water first otherwise.

Well, one thing is for certain: no more tournament hopes. Not that he was that great, but he was essential for his size and athleticism at least. I can shoot FT's and open 3's at a better clip than this kid in a YMCA gym. Hell, give me a shooting instructor and I bet I could have a softer touch on my mid range shots than him too. The only thing Sampson is great at is being athletic, dunking, and cleaning up around the rim. He's a highlight reel guy, but he has a reputation for disappearing in huge games. He also gets thrown around by mid major bigs right now. Just imagine him in the NBA. He can't shoot, he can't bang down low…but he makes highlights once in a while and can dunk!

He's just a kid so he is making a snap decision, but shame on whoever told him it was a good idea. Next year would have been the perfect time. At least now I don't have to expect the tournament next year. Next year will be what…5 years with no berth since Lavin? He's well on his way to another great decade.

Not exactly shocking. Every year, when the season ends and you map out the Johnnies' roster next year, they look like they could contend. Then players don't qualify/get suspended/declared for the draft, and all of a sudden, the roster isn't as talented as it was.

Sucks though. Johnnies had a chance to be preseason #2 in the conference.
