What exactly do the ud fans think they're accomplishing by going over their program credentials over and over. We get it, you didn't get in, you want in, you think you're entitled to it. Maybe you can go team by team and make up a score and record for being in this league this year.

I like ud fans for the most part. Great fan base. From everything we know that's out in the public is that this league isn't expanding anytime soon. So I don't get the 15 different threads on ud from their fans base and from other be fans. You're having a good run. Enjoy it. No need to run to another conference board and try to tell people with no clout " I told you so!" I'm sure the BE presidents saw that you won a few games in March and if expansion happens I'm sure they'll consider your program. Cool?

There have been some very good conversations between Dayton and Xavier fans on this board; honestly discussions I have enjoyed to read. And then I come to this; this post is part of the reason Dayton and Xavier posters litter this thread. When posts like this are posted people get defensive and feel the need to defend their brand.

Bostonalum wrote:Wow....Dayton has won two games in the tourney and now may deserve an invite to the Big East? Give me a f$cking break. They've won four NCAA tourney games in 20 years, and that's including this year(2). They have been a middle of the pack Atlantic Ten team since they have joined. They beat a BCS team every now and then.

To be blunt, Dayton is a dead city. What little industry they had is gone. No one goes to Dayton of their own free will. You don't graduate from college and see if there are job openings in Dayton. The ONLY thing in Dayton for Daytonites to become vested in is there basketball program......because there is nothing else there. This truth is more than evident in how delusional/insecure their fan base acts, touting accomplishments from 50 years ago, crying foul in the present, and spouting delusions of grandeur for future teams. As the great John Chaney said when the A10 tourney was in Dayton "why are we playing in the sticks".

Dayton has not established any type of brand nationally. As a recruit, is there anything "sexy" about saying I just commited to Dayton? The Big East already has this area covered with X and Butler. If you are a Dayton fan, what would they bring to the table if invited? The Dayton TV market is useless at best. At this point they are a middle tier A10 team.....

You don't have a clue. With your first post, that is a great way to gain credibility among fellow posters.

Dateline Feb 13, 2014
A national spotlight on local economic development work is expected to help lure even more companies, and jobs, to the Dayton area.
Site Selection magazine is set this week to announce the Dayton region was ranked as the No. 1 market in the country — in areas with 200,000 to 1 million residents — when it comes to new and expansion projects

Yep its a dying city....

Last I checked, this is a "fan" forum. So why wouldn't we talk about it? And like it or not, Dayton is still dancing while the rest of us are twiddling our thumbs.

Congratulations to the University of Dayton for winning as many NCAA Tournament games in the last 96 hours as they had won in the previous 30 years.

Dayton's enjoying a nice little run (2 games). Let's not forget they finished 6th in the A-10. They are playing excellent defense which has always been the problem. I think Archie is gone. BCS teams will be lining up at his door with the big bucks, just like Sean. Funny, since UD fans threw him under the bus after the 0-6 start. Anyway, it's all about the money and if Fox has the money to throw at two more teams, why not? I don't see the need and would stick @ 10. Talk 'til you're blue in the face about expansion. Nothin' going to happen with the Presidents or anybody else unless Fox cuts more checks.

Archie just signed to stay with Dayton until 2019. The "hellhole" Xavier refers to as Dayton and the Udump Arena right now isn't too bad to him.

Good for Archie. Get the money while your hot. Contracts don't mean anything nowadays but looks like he will stay @ the UDump.

I'm not trying to smack talk, I am dealing with reality. No one on these boards have any clout. Dont understand why there are so many threads on Dayton. If they decide to expand, with the way the league is set up, I am sure UD will be considered. Until then its all garbage talk, SLU, RIchmond, ect included. Some fans think they are entitled or something, makes no sense.

I just dont see a point in running over to another conference board screaming about how you should be in a league. The reality today is there is no plans to expand anytime soon as of today, all subject to change but thats the real world.

I don't think for a minute Archie will be around in 2019 but the extension probably has a buy out for both sides in case of firing / Archie leaving. This probably ensures Miller is back next year and who knows after that. But now any school who snags him within his contract timeframe will be paying UD some cash. Means Archie isn't going to take off for a WF type job.
