There's a LOT more pressure at UCLA then Marquette. Also, there's a Confederate soldier on every corner of Richmond for a reason.

Is that true or just tongue-in-cheek? Pardon the ignorance. I never been to Richmond.

As a lifelong Bruin fan I can attest to the temperament at UCLA. Final four our hit the road. Yes we're a bit spoiled with winning 7 of 10 national championships, but I am a realistic guy and those days will never return. But I still root for them especially against USC. Shaka was smart no pun intended for turning down UCLA. Hard for a midwest guy to make it on the West Coast.

BTW having been to Richmond to visit our grand daughter can't say I noticed confederate soldiers on any corner. Beautiful campus and city. Nice people too, meshed well with them. Great history in that part of the country, worth seeing.

Spent a day in Richmond last summer. Nice city. Walking across that flimsy bridge to Belle Isle was almost the death of me though. "Every corner" is obviously hyperbole but there is the odd Confederate here and there. And the Museum of the Confederacy is, uh, interesting.

My Daughter attended the University of Richmond.

Yeah, Richmond has a Hugh endowment, great campus and good academics but the University of Richmond has absolutely no school spirit. Richmond also has a small media footprint within the Richmond metro area.

IMO Richmond would be a terrible addition to the Big East Conference.
