Not a very convincing link. Everyone looks like they are standing around.

I agree. At least burn a couch. A very inefficient riot to say the least!

Certainly helps. Does make it harder to keep them out. Their one problem is probably they add a recruiting rival to a current member. Think adding George Mason to Georgetown, St. Joe's to Villanova, Rhode Island to Providence.

SLU and Dayton have always been the favorites (be honest), so this only cements that. But please, no more than 12.

By expanding based off what happens in the tourney for a single season. That seems like the definition of reactive to me.

I hope they don't expand. If they do, I care very little which schools are selected. But I find it laughable that message board fans want teams based off results from a season or a particular player or coach. This is a long-term deal. Selections should be based on institutional fit, similar athletic commitment, fan support, adding to the collective whole, etc. Choosing the wrong additIon because of a short sighted reason is a recipe for disaster. Teams are never kicked out of conferences. Teams leave for better opportunities or fits. So adding the wrong team will become a permanent pain point.

It will all depend on the east coast schools willingness to add two more schools to the west. The 3 new schools are all west and people have assumed SLU is school #11 who is west as well.

It has been very impressive but you need to prove your worth more than 1 year. Can they remain this competitive with a new group of players? George Mason had 1 amazing year. Davidson had 1 amazing year. FGCU had 1 amazing year.

Anyone can get red hot one year. If they prove they can continue making tourneys and winning games in them they will probably get their invite. By the way, they really need to update their jerseys. They look baggy like they are from 2000. Just an observation lol.

My full statement was if they are ultimately going to add Dayton then they should do it when Dayton has positive press going for them..... like after a NCAA tourney run. Please quote my whole post next time.

I am for not expanding any time soon but it makes sense from a public relations perspective to add Dayton now while they are in the Sweet 16 if it is inevitable that they will be added. The old Big East was reactive, this league needs to be proactive.

I agree with the poster above who said to relax and wait to see what they can do with other players. You don't add teams to an elite conference because of 1 good year. Hell, Siena had a great year not too long ago beating Ohio State in the tourney and looked like they could hang with any team in the nation. They are right in Albany. Does that mean they get an invitation? Obviously not. And look at them now…they suck. There are teams who go on a big run every 10-20 years and there are teams who are relevant most of the time making tourneys and winning games in them.

I'll make a comparison…if Dayton was the mens equivalent of the Marist women's basketball team it would make sense to add them. The Marist women have been in the tournament 10 years in a row. They also win games in them from time to time. They made the Sweet 16 in 07 and advanced several other years. They are clearly not 1 season wonders, because they always win the MAAC and make the tourney even with each cycle of new players. That's how you know a program is legit. Dayton is still too much of a wildcard. For all I know they don't make the tourney for another 5-6 years after this.

I agree. I don't want the conference to expand any time soon.

My point got twisted. I said that if the Big East is going to inevitably invite Dayton, that if it's a no-brainer in the presidents' minds, they should do it now instead of 2 seasons from now. Get the good PR.
