While some won't admit it this is a win for A10 and BE. Need to keep the power 5 from taking complete control

I don't know if people don't like Dayton so much as a lot of their fans turn people off. Nobody really has had much experience with the school/team outside of Xavier fans. We have had a recent influx of UD posters who seem pretty cool. I'm trying to figure out if the crazy ones have been keeping them locked in a dungeon somewhere and they all escaped at once or something.

Congrats to UD fans (specifically ruechalgrin, augcash, udearl, and mtkc12, you guys are class. sorry if I forgot any). Here's hoping you keep it rolling.

Thanks Marquette and Billyjack, truly appreciated. I was at the game and the 1,000 Dayton fans were louder than the 19,000 Syracuse fans throughout the game. The other fan base that was quite loud was Villanova. Obvious home game for Syracuse, but besides that Villanova and Dayton traveled the best by far.

Thanks for the kind words, and condolences to the Nova fans tonight. I don't know if LeBron could have stopped Napier tonight.

As for Dayton, it wasn't a particularly good game for them (and they almost lost it due to poor FT shooting), but I was impressed with four things: 1) UD dictated the game tempo. At times, I thought I was watching "Hoosiers"--methodical and in control, at least most of the time; 2) They pushed the ball into the paint, which created opportunities--a must against the Syracuse zone. 3) Defense. While Syracuse was horrible on offense, Dayton deserves at least part of the credit. Except for the last few minutes, Syracuse really never had any easy buckets. 4) Effort. Dayton outrebounded Syracuse by 4, which really surprised me.

I read a great quote yesterday:

"To make the Round of 32 shows you can compete. To make the Sweet 16 shows you belong."

Dayton is a program that has always mattered to alums and locals. It feels so good--after so many years--to at least be mentioned again on the national stage.

As for tomorrow, good luck to Creighton! It should be a great game, and one of contrasting styles.

I agree. We need SF Austin, San Diego State, Wichita State, Mercer, and Dayton all in the Sweet Sixteen. We got two in so far.

Wouldn't that mean we want all 3 AAC schools in too?

Good point. My division line was football schools.

I don't understand the whole American as an enemy thing. The P5 drove the stake through the Old Big East picking off our schools and then we left the remaining football schools, they didn't leave us. We got more money on an inferior network and they got a TON of the great exposure but less money -- could we have potentially gotten both if we stuck together?

A season removed, watching the tourney games on CBS/Turner Networks and Sports Center on ESPN... I'm hearing so LITTLE about the Big East. I wonder if we didn't jump the gun -- we always controlled our fate with the ability to leave as a group -- I don't think a combined league with the AAC and multi-game basketball play agreements with SDSU and Boise would have been any worse than the off the radar feeling I've been getting of this season now. If it was bad, after a year and wasn't working we could have left at anytime.

Then what about San Diego State? Do we want them to lose?

Nope, exceptions/sacrifices have to be made somewhere
