And, this absolute love affair with FS1 is a joke. I think if you asked the Big East Presidents they would say they are disappointed in the ratings. I don't think they were expecting the ratings to be down as much as it is. And to act like it's almost certain that it had nothing to do with FS1- that's not reasonable either. And if he said he was disappointed in the new big east, well guess what, a big part of that new big east is FS1. That's the issue.

Also, got to remember part of FS1 not only is the ratings, but also like what SI said in their story tonight about Buzz, it's the schedule quirks and for Marquette a lot of late start times. Looks like 7 9pm or later start times for them by fox controlled by the Big East.. Year before they had only 2. We heard a lot of those issues during the season. Not sure what FS1 can do about that as the Big East is so big for their programming.

Always bet on probabilities, not possibilities.

Probability tells us that FS1 will grow brick by brick as it takes on its new properties.
Probability tells us that excellent incoming Big East recruiting classes will lead to great success for our teams in the next few years.
Probability tells us that schools in our conference will continue to draw great crowds.
Probability tells us that we will get a minimum of 4 bids each year.
Probability tells us that we will get 5 or 6 bids in many years.

Possibilities are really endless, and are often meaningless.
There's a possibility that Kate Upton could knock on my door this coming Monday night.
There's a possibility that Buzz Williams has a stable of prostitutes in Blacksburg, and that's why he took the Va Tech job.
There's a possibility that Jim Boeheim will coach his game tomorrow wearing a cape.
There's a possibility that Yasiel Puig will hit .450 this year.
There's a possibility that I'll be killed by a freakin' bear tomorrow.
Right...??? Hey, this is fun, I mean, anything is possible...!!!

But do we have to spend hours on this site discussing low-percentage possibilities, slippery slopes, improbable disaster scenarios, nuclear-bomb-shelter type stuff... jeesh... I mean, how do some people get out of bed in the morning...?

It's gotta get it's sea legs people. You cannot seriously throw FS1 under the bus when the channel hasn't even been in existence for less than a year!

It will take time. And you know what will solve this supposed "problem"? Big East teams just need to win OOC, then win in the tourney. The more the conference wins, the more people will tune in.

And if FS1 fails? Big freaking deal really. The Big East is making some serious money from the contract, and no one can say at all that it's hurting recruiting (5 BE teams in the top 27 recruit classes directly contradict that), but we aren't on ESPN! Big whoop. The league is trending up, and FS1 is just finding its niche. These things take time.

FS1 has 90-million households... that's the same or more than ESPN U, ESPN News, NBC Sports, CBS Sports, and 30-million more homes than it had prior to last summer as the Speed Network, yet it's ratings haven't changed that much since then. This isn't the slow build ESPN had in the non-internet and less cable dominated 1980's. Things go viral overnight with the internet these days and Fox is promoting it's sports network on it's main Fox affiliates, it's regional fox stations, its other Fox owned cable channels, online websites, and through social media and the ratings needle isn't moving much. An 80% drop in BET ratings from last year to this year when all Big East fans knew where the conference games were all season - is not saying good things about the draw of the conference.

The problem with 1st one- FS1 doesn't have many properties they can bid on. NBA and Big Ten. And that's really just about it. NFL nope. MLB nope other than the 40 they have. NHL nope. Major college sports? Nope. I'm sorry but you can't say that it's probable that FS1 will grow if they don't get anything else. NASCAR and US Open just not enough.
Recruiting is so hit and miss. Also, let's wait to see in 2015 with recruiting just how good we're doing. Plus now with Marquette, odds pretty good that they're going to lose some of their 2014 class with Buzz gone.

And to act like he didn't like everything with FS1 is low percentage- you have no way of knowing it. Everything just isn't rosy with FS1. You act like FS1 has no chance of failing at all and anyone talking bad about FS1 is a traitor. At best, FS1 is a C right now.

Right, ok...

So, FS1 is doomed in your opinion because of where they are after 6 months on the air.
Meanwhile, Big East recruiting is outstanding across the board, but "let's wait and see" before we pass judgment.
Ok, so now I understand... let's urinate on Big East positives, and broadcast perceived negatives with a megaphone.
And then anyone who calls you out, you get all sad sack on us and play the victim.

I'm not saying FS1 is doomed, I'm just saying that it's not a guaranteed sucess like you and others here make it sound like it is. They get more content and they will improve a lot. But they have to get that and there's not much to get... If they don't get the content, what exactly is going to change?

The 2014 class which will be going into schools in August- a lot of that recruiting was done pre-split, and pre-FS1. The 2015 class is the one that will have the full impact of the split and FS1. If we have the great classes, that's to me way more impressive than 2014- especially on the heels of such a mediocre season.

Stever is the most glass half full--no, glass completely empty guy--I ever met. Now Jay Wright may leave for the NBA? Recruiting is strong NOW but just wait until 2015. Nova has another 2 Top 100 kids ready to plug in for 2015. Will they compete for recruits with Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and UNC? Maybe not but this years tourney is showing that teams that are deep with Jr's and Sr's usually do well vs the teams built around Frosh stars. The BE can build with solid kids ranked 25-100 and do just fine thank you. Really Stever you need to give the gloom and doom talk a rest. FS1 just started. How can you possibly make summary judgements against it this soon? Are you this depressing outside of the HLOH? God, I hope not.
Go Nova!

Billy Jack, I know that message boards are largely for banter, but I'd like to get serious with you just for a moment.

I've become quite fond of you after exchanging posts over these many months here. So, it is with great sadness the I receive the news of your impending demise.

Now, having gotten that out of the way and since Kate is coming over house Monday night AND since you won't be available, being otherwise involved with the bear and all, AND since I don't live all that far away from your house, how about it? I will be happy to step up in your time of great need and substitute for you to answer that knock on your door. I think I'm the perfect guy for the job because I've been a big fan of hers for a long time and despite the fact that she's young enough to be my daughter, you can't deny that there's a possibility that my feelings for her will be reciprocated when she opens the door. Given that possibility along with the possibility of your demise tomorrow, I don't see how you can turn down my offer.

I respectfully await your reply. :)
