Buzz Williams left Marquette for a variety of reasons, sources told ESPN. One of the biggest was new league/new TV package.

this is probably almost all of it. FS1 is not a good thing for us right now.

So he's all pissy about FS1 and goes to a league that's on ESPN even though the only time his team will actually be on ESPN is when they're playing Duke. Whatever. Get a good coach in there and Marquette will be infinitely more successful than Va Tech in the years to come. Of that I have no doubt.

Another theft by the ACC to diminish the Big East further. When will it end? I feel like with all the poaching they've done to our league in the last few years, there should be a rule where they can't even touch us for the next 50 years.

The ACC couldn't beat the Big East, so it had to steal the teams and coaches. Very stupid move by Buzz. Wow. This says a lot about the perception of our conference and it hurts…badly.

No, this is the spin from ESPN... we get 5 boxes of ziti a year each... Va Tech is a doormat...
Crazy move, but Marquette is a great job and MU will have no trouble finding a great replacement.

VT was on ESPN or one if it's networks 5 times this year plus the tourney. Plus Tru TV 2x and NBCSN 1x.

Nothing would make me smirk more than seeing Marquette crack the top 25 next year while VT continues being the toilet paper for NC State, UNC, Duke, Cuse, Pitt, etc.

Terrible move, hard to build an winning culture at a place that has none.

Do these lateral moves ever work out? I can't remember a coach leaving one prominent school for another and having similar success. Although, only ones that immediately come to mind is Bub Huggins and Frank Martin. Ugh, I guess Pitino and Cal.

how about Roy Williams - Kansas to UNC and winning 2 nat'l championships

cant get any more lateral than Kansas to UNC on a big stage and you have to say wining 2 national championships is pretty darn good success

also, pretty sure he believes he's moving up

"One of its networks" is not ESPN. You think recruits are watching Va Tech-Clemson on ESPNU? Oooh, they were on Tru TV too! Come on. Va Tech is a dead basketball program, throwing money at Buzz makes them no less dead. He won't win there. And nobody will ever be watching them whatever damned channel they're on because nobody gives a rat's ass about Va Tech basketball.
