really only 2 decent teams in that mix.

UMass last 7- 4-3 but losses to 3 tourney teams(Dayton, SLU, GW), and win over VCU in the mix.

If UMass couldn't beat tourney teams in their own conference, why should anyone think they can beat a tourney team in the actual tournament? And who did UMass beat in those 4 wins?

URI twice
Duquesne
VCU

Am I supposed to be more impressed with wins over URI and Duquesne than wins over the SEC slugs? The VCU of course is impressive, but that was a month ago before they began their skid, and it was a close game where home court advantage helped. Missouri and Iowa are actually wins over good teams and both came within the past 2 weeks. The Missouri win was a blow out and the Iowa win came on a neutral court in the tournament. I'm much more impressed with those than a 5 point win at home over VCU a month ago.

True, but I don't know how much stock you can put in Tennessee with some of their wins vs putrid teams.

Think BOTH teams will be jazzed up now, as winner gets Mercer in 2nd rd rather than Duke.

I only made reference to their late season string of wins in relation to the Jekyll & Hyde comment. I too had my reservations about them a few weeks ago, but felt more confident in picking them because they beat whom they were supposed to beat down the stretch and positively scorched Missouri at a time when they needed an impressive win to convince everyone that they wee legit. I think they've righted the ship.

My preference for Tennesse over UMass is not because of their late season run, but because they have been the better team over the course of the season. UMass is a turnover prone team that doesn't shoot FT's very well and depends heavily on one player. I think that tennessee is the better all around team.

just looking though- UMass may normally turn the ball over some, but Tennessee isn't good at forcing the turnovers. 256th in forcing turnovers.

FT not that huge of a difference- 71-68%.

Wish we would see more of this.

about that mulligan....

well the streak continues- 4 years in a row now where a 1st 4 team has won a 2nd rd game.. Tennessee could make it 3/4 going to the sweet 16 if they can beat Mercer.....

8 minutes left in the first half. Wichita State needs to call off the dogs. Up 21-5 over Cal Poly.
