The thing is, there are two postseasons, the big one and the little one. If no Big East team goes far in the big tournament, then yes, the conference tournament winner will probably be remembered more. More so in this case because Providence beat a team led by such a historically great player.

But, if Villanova or Creighton makes it to the Final Four or farther after garnering high seeds through a really good regular season, that will probably be the most remembered part of this season for the Big East and even more so for college basketball at large.

So you do think Jay would trade his 2 seed for an 11 seed if he could have the BET Championship this year. Interesting...

I think Jay would probably prefer to finish 2nd in the regular season and then win the BET (likely resulting in a 2 seed) if given the choice. That I agree with.

However, he would not choose the BET if it meant being an 11 seed like PC.

Presented this way makes much more sense and I would tend to agree with this line of thinking.

i agree winning the regular season is more of an accomplishment. However i think the tournament champion is considered the "official" champion. Same goes in other sports such as field hockey, soccer, baseball, lacrosse and softball. Sports such as track, xc and swimming dont really have a true (or traditional) regular season so their champion is obviously the winner of their championship meet
