Marquette Deputy Athletic Director Mike Broeker tweeted shortly after the NIT bracket was revealed that MU would not be participating in any other competitions, presumably meaning that MU intended to turn down any bid offered by the CBI or CIT.
Frankly, this is a decision that I wholeheartedly agree with. There's nothing that could be accomplished against that level of competition that couldn't also be accomplished in a November buy game.
Disappointed to not make the NIT, as because the Bradley Center is being used for the 2nd/3rd rounds of the NCAA Tournament, those games would have been held at the on-campus, 4,000-capacity Al McGuire Center, where the students are literally right on top of the visiting bench. It would have been an electric atmosphere, but ultimately, 15 losses, including 4 in a row to end the season, sunk the listing ship.
