All you have to do is go to Cuse or UConn's message board to realize that with all the ragging on the conference this year, that respect was restored over 4 glorious days at the Mecca of college basketball. The 7 schools knew that keeping the name and MSG were the most important thing and they were right. Despite it all the BET at MSG is still the best it gets for CBB regular season viewing, nothing else comes close.

Who are these X fans that think their shit don't stink? Seriously, the new Cuse fans of the Big East hands down.

Lol no, he didn't. He took a shot at the segment that has delusions of grandeur, much like a very vocal (and actually fairly large) segment of Dayton fans. Now, maybe that hit close to home if you agree with SJHooper on SJU's current greatness, and you mistakenly generalized your own perception to the whole fanbase.

By the way, Xavier fans only seem to have problems with you and him (and everyone has problems with him). You probably shouldn't think you're representing your whole fanbase on that front either.

This thread brings a smile to my face:

The ACC has a split personality problem. The southern schools have zero interest in going north and schools like Syracuse cannot fathom the attraction of the ACC tournament in Greensboro. I think the ACC would bet better off holding their tournament in either Charlotte or Atlanta. At least they are major cities with plenty of hotel space, airport access, and things to do. Greensboro is even more small town than Raleigh is and Raleigh, where I live, is very much small town. UNC, Duke, and NC State have a huge home court advantage in Greensboro and don't want to give it up. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few years.

Besides attendance which was down 25-33% per session... the Big East Tournament looked good on TV, though ratings are mediocre at best - so few actually saw it. The production value of the ACC tourney is LOW in Greensboro - that arena is no Madison Square Garden, but it does have 3,500 more seats and the ACC profits off them!

Are you talking about the Big East tournament or the ACC tournament? Are you talking about attendance per game or for the entire tournament?

Decreased attendance may create more pressure for expansion. The old tournament was selling tickets to 16 schools, not 10.

Once again, learn how to read.

There is no way we could all endure having to deal with both SJU and UD fans. "Oh yeah, way back in 19 ought something our basketball team was awesome!" Blah, blah, blah.

Where did he mention just a certain segment? Like I said before, you can shut up too.

I was just roughly comparing session to session from previous years to this years BET sessions. Not as a bash, but as an observation of someone who has been going to the BET through all the changes in conference make-up through several decades.

Sports Illustrated's view of the Big East Tournament is much like mine... it's not what it was by any means, but its much better than it could have turned out... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-basketball/news/20140316/big-east-tournament-providence-creighton/

For those calling me a troll for saying the tv ratings were mediocre, Sports Illustrated says, "the television ratings are miniscule." My wife and I paid for tourney passes, we believed enough to still buy in and we don't really have teams left in the conference. So calling me a troll, after putting my money where my mouth is is pretty childish.
