The post complaining about the referees that Lavinwood has been preparing all day now has some legs. Awful non-call on Harrison's three.

Harrison can't get a call to save his life.

Similar to the non-call against Bryce Cotton on the other end of the floor. The replay showed he got hit pretty well.

Yeah, because Marquette really showed us something this year too...

Marquette earned their preseason hype by being a perennial tournament team. St. John's hasn't been that.

Now, Providence has to beat Seton Hall tomorrow and hope that's enough to get them into the tournament if it can't win the final.

sorry but the officiating has been horrific down the stretch with some calls going our way but most blatantly going against us. "God's Gift" was moving his feet on charging call on us (should have been AND 1), Fortune was trucked over on turnover, no call, cotton hacked to death, no call.....bad bad bad. Lucky we held on.

Nice win for Providence. Was good to see a bit of fight from the Johnnies in the later part however we've truthfully never been a good enough team this year. At least in the NIT we may make a bit of a run.

Would be good to see an original Big East team go on to win the tournament - best of luck to The Friars.
We are New York's team. We are St. John's.

now the question becomes for PC is tomorrow now a must win given it's a sub 100 team in Seton Hall. Could they take that loss and survive?

A bad St. John's team? This is the only St. John's team to win 20 games in the last 3 seasons. One more win, and it would be a tie for the most wins in a season for St. John's since winning 25 in 2000. At least record-wise, this is one of the best teams St. John's has had in recent years. Marquette meanwhile is in the midst of its worst season since 2001.

And that's what I mean when I say "the emperor has no clothes" in regards to St. John's.

I'm hoping the ones I've encountered are just chest-thumping loudmouths who make the rest of the fanbase look bad, but my experience both online and at the Garden is that many St. John's fans seem to have a remarkably high opinion of their program ("7th-winningest all time" yawn, nobody cares), with very little to show for it. Bill Clinton was President the last time the Johnnies won a tournament game. Every current Big East team save one (Providence) has a more recent tournament win than St. John's.
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

So I went down to the basement to avoid the URI fans. Just got back and saw the final score. PC won easily right...?
