Adjusting to a new reality that they themselves brought on through their doomed pursuit of BCS football.

The day the Catholic Seven broke away from the Big East, following West Virginia, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, and Louisville, I wondered what being in the basketball offices at Cincinnati, Temple, UConn, and Memphis must have felt like.

I imagined the string quartet on the deck of the Titanic dressed in those teams' basketball jerseys, playing wistfully as the last lifeboat floated away.

NotKirkCameron has become one of my favorite posters. Great imagery of the Titanic dudes. But I can't understand the meaning behind your handle though... did Kirk Cameron go to Marquette?

We are talking about the same Tulsa team who lost this year to Oral Roberts, Missouri State, and TCU (twice)? Whose only top-50 win is a win over Southern Mississippi at home?

Also, congrats to Tulsa for being in a tie for first place, but let's not forget that they're only there because of a late 7-game winning streak over, in order, Rice (RPI 302), East Carolina (201), Old Dominion (182), Florida Atlantic (258), Florida International (221), UTEP (97), and UTSA (303); teams with an average RPI of 223. If you COULDN'T run the table against that group, you'd be in real trouble.

Tulsa has beaten 2 of the 3 teams in the 1st place tie- Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee. Look- I'm not saying they're back yet- but they're light years ahead of where they were even 2-3 years ago. They could easily get the CUSA spot this year which would be huge for them.

Also, not sure why you put Missouri State in a bad loss category- they are in the top 100.

Think of it this way... what would be the reaction if someone said, "you know, DePaul is really turning it around... they beat Middle Tennessee State, Rice and the Missouri State Bears... I really like how they're trending... I think they can really quickly get back to what they used to be (15 years ago)..."

I've been curious about this as well. Maybe he gets told that he looks like Kirk sometimes? I don't believe Kirk Cameron attended any university.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Thanks, billyjack. The background behind my handle is that for my name in real life, it's kind of a "Michael Bolton" from Office Space type situation that seems to arise every time I meet someone new. It's been a handle/screen name I've used for almost 20 years. Why should I change my name? He's the one who sucks...

And besides, Marquette has far better acting talent in its alumni ranks than Mike Seaver.

Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

The thing about Tulsa is they're really young. They have 2 seniors and 1 doesn't play much at all. Half their losses aren't bad ones at all- Wichita, Creighton, Green Bay, Oklahoma, Maryland, and La Tech.

Of course, for a team like them, going to a NIT or even CBI/CIT- and getting perhaps 4-5 games in the postseason- may do wonders for them for next year.

Thing you wonder with them though is Danny Manning. Will he stick around long?

Ok, that's pretty funny... especially that it's Kirk Cameron...

And "Office Space" was a great movie...
Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Na-ghee-na-na-jar. Nagheenanajar.
Michael Bolton: Yeah, well, at least your name isn't Michael Bolton.
Samir: You know, there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about twelve years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Hmm... well, why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?
Michael Bolton: No way! Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.
