If this was any other team, the Nova and X fans would be bashing the posters for being brutal and heartless. But because it's St. John's it's open season. Maybe the other SJ fans had real hope, but I knew something didn't feel right. When we made the big run I knew it was too good to be true. If it was really going to be a tourney year we would have beat Nova and never lost those PC, DePaul, and PSU games. The 0-5 start will haunt us and the key injuries/suspensions at the worst possible times are becoming a regularity in the past 4 years. Bad luck alone can keep you out. Bad luck mixed with terrible performance seals the deal for the NIT.

I am disgusted with some of the other fan bases on here for piling on and rubbing salt in the wounds of a legendary program that was a major reason the Big East was even formed in the first place. Time to stop with the double standards. A dick fan is a dick fan. Stop allowing dick fans of other teams to put down SJ while crucifying SJ fans for being dicks to fans of other teams.

At the end of the day, you had to see this coming if you are a Johnnies fan. The second this team ever exceeds or even meets expectations I will have to pinch to see if I'm dreaming. Making the tournament for this program feels like asking a dog to write an essay at this point. Beginning to think that whole streak was fools gold and just the law of averages at work instead of real improvement. Another year, another absence from relevance in the tourney. How is it even possible to miss the tourney so consistently? That's hard to do.

Interesting. You seem to basically be saying the exact same things about St. John's and its performance as everyone else. But everyone else is a dick fan - and I guess it's ok for you because you put "SJ" in your screen name?

This team looked terrible and played very low iq basketball at the start of conference play, seemed to turn a corner and play to its strengths during the hot streak, and now seems to be reverting again. Frustrating, because I think SJU is capable of being much better and more dangerous than almost every "bubble" team out there.

Ok let's recap what SJHooper is saying:

Step 1: "You guys are all dicks for saying SJU is underachieving, and that they played a terrible game tonight."
Step 2:" I knew we were never going to amount to anything this year."
Step 3: "Really, you guys are a bunch of dicks for saying that SJU isn't that good. We basically invented the Big East."
Step 4: "Man, why do we stink so bad that we can't get to the tourney after all these years and all of these great recruiting classes?"

Did I get that about right?

"jordan is a hack. guy slaps and grabs everytime he d's up."

"Typical St. John's. 8th technical of the year."

"Scoreboard!!"

"I'm guessing SJU needs to make the BE tourney finals with a win over Creighton or Nova to be in the final NCAA discussion."

These are all the kinds of posts that had they been against any other team by a SJ fan would get the entire SJ fan base crucified. Rubbing salt in the wound is acceptable when it's vs. SJ fans but never vs. any other fan base on here. If SJ won this game all we would be allowed to do is make fun of ourselves, talk crap about our own team, and praise Xavier. But Xavier won and now it's suddenly acceptable to act like a dick because it's not SJ fans talking. Gumby, you make me hope Nova gets ousted first round because of your snide and passive-aggressive remarks.

Big win for XU. A win at Seton Hall puts them in the tourney IMO. Couple chances remain for big resume builders as well.

Saying SJU needs to do well in the BE tourney is considered "rubbing salt in the wound"?

Lighten up Francis. Weren't you the guy in his 2nd post on this board that basically declared that Creighton would stink next year, Nova was overachieving and lucky and would take a step back next year, and SHU wasn't any good even wi a good recruiting class, and XU without Christon would stink?

And your upset by comments that your team played poorly even when you admitted it yourself? You join Lavinwood and a few others as great examples of the SJU fan base. Well done.

Huge road win for Xavier, their first win against a top 100 team.

IMO one more win against anyone puts them on the right side of the bubble, but still on the bubble. I believe that 2 more wins puts them in the tournament without having to sweat selection Sunday and without having to sweat conference tournament upsets.

I expect that they will win one more game in the regular season. If they face St. John's in the BE tournament, back in The Garden, that should be a really interesting game.

I think this is a good result for the Big East. As long as X beats Seton Hall, they should be in. SJU still has a chance to get in with a win against Depaul and win @Marquette.

I assume you mean Xavier's first ROAD win against a top 100 team.

They'll need more than DePaul and Marquette- at least 1 win in the BET. 20-12 almost certainly doesn't get them in.
