Wed 2/19 BE, 2 Games (DePaul-Xavier, Creighton-Marquette)

Marquette's at-large hopes are hanging by a thread, and even though they've won their last two games by respectable, if not comfortable margins, opponents are shooting well against them. MU has gotten a little boost in the turnover department, and are taking care of business at the free throw line. If either of those goes away, it could be a long night for the Warriors against the league leaders. Pulling the upset tonight would give MU its first Top 25 win of the year (after GW faded), and its 5th against the Top 100 (GW, @Georgetown, Providence, Xavier), and would put them at 16-10 (8-5). Losing tonight means that MU would have to win out to get to 20 wins before the Garden (which includes Georgetown and St. John's at home, and road trips to DePaul, Villanova, and Providence).

Since losing to Ohio State in November, MU is 9-1 at home, with the only loss coming to Villanova in overtime.

Personally, this game reminds me of Marquette's game last season against Syracuse, but with different stakes. Marquette needed to beat the Orange at home in late February to keep its Big East title hopes alive. Here, Marquette really has to beat the Bluejays at home to keep its tournament hopes alive.

What scares the shit out of me is this could end up like the Providence game. Two banged up starters and a loss... worst game of the year for us. To be honest, if the Jays can just win and get the hell out of Milwaukee with no injuries it will feel like beating Villanova, Wichita and Nebraska all in one game. Actually, I take that back. I'm discouraged that we're starting to see guys just flail their arms or hit the deck and get calls. I don't think refs understand how to call games anymore and any perceived contact is just an automatic whistle and players/coaches know it. I've seen it from both sides in tonight's game and a few times last night. I hate that weak sh!t.

I totally agree. Gardner acted like he been punched in the face and got a call, but the replay clearly showed no contact at all to the head.
