I think he may be a little overly optimistic. Providence and St. John's still have a little work to do IMO.

I think that St. John's, Providence, and or Georgetown all have a shot but need at least one more upset to get there.

St.John's has road games left against Villanova and Marquette. I think they need to beat Marquette, which they should be favored to do, and them need either a win over Villanova OR a significant win in the BE tournament other than the 7-10 round.

I think that PC needs to beat both Butler and Seton Hall on the road - not an easy task - and beat Marquette at home. Then They need an upset over either either Villanova or Creighton. They get Novaat home and so, have a better shot there. If they can do that, they're in. If not, then they need a significant win at MSG (not 7-10).

Georgetown also has a formidable schedule remaining. They need to win 3 of their final games and heat a significant win in the BE tourney.

Personal interests aside, I am very intrigued by this week's Creighton-Marquette game.

Creighton only has two conference losses, but both were on the road to the Big East's "middle class," losing at Providence and at St. John's. Marquette has won 3 in a row for the first time all season. RPI Forecast lists Creighton as a 5.5 point favorite, but the Bradley Center is an awfully tough place to play. Even in the down season Marquette has had, since losing to Ohio State at home in November, MU has gone 8-1 at home, with the only loss being an overtime defeat to Villanova.

If Marquette is able to steal a win against Creighton, the schedule really opens up for them. This weekend it's a trip to a Cleveland Melvin-less DePaul, then four days off before Georgetown at home. The season ends with a road trip to Wells Fargo and the Dunk, then senior day at home against St. John's.

I think you've got a shot at the upset, Kirk. Should be a close game, going right down to the wire. I'm picking Creighton by 3-5 points. But when it's that close, it's anyone's game. Marquette's been coming on strong the last few games, so a big upset could be the start of a late season surge.

I was hoping Gtown and PC would separate from the pack to make it 5 clear tourney teams. Knowing that St. Johns has the talent, depth, and ability to get hot and win our tournament to quite possibly get 6 teams in. Unfortunately the Red Storm peaked earlier than I thought and it now looks like 5 is the maximum.

MQ really hurt itself with the early season results.
Gtown has an extremely difficult schedule left.

And as crazy as a 3 game losing streak for NOVA sounds...I can see them losing @Providence which is a tough place to play when they are focused (see Creighton win). And it would not be a stretch for them to lose to maybe the best team in the conference TODAY in the Jonnies. The next couple weeks will be interesting.
