Until other teams prove that they're adjusted to the BE and on top every year here like I expect X to be, it'll always just be Nova and GTown. Being and MU fan makes you feel like their little brother who's achieved pretty much everything they have but they laugh at you anyways.
Have never heard or read a bad word about Marquette from Villanova people. If anything, discussion tends toward similarities between the programs since MU joined up. Concur that in terms of historical accomplishments, there is not a dime's worth of difference between Nova, Marquette and Georgetown.
You know unless you look at BE regular season titles and Big East Tournament titles:
Georgetown: 11 regular season titles (10 BE); 10 Conference tournament titles (7 BE)
Villanova: 7 regular season title( 4 BE 3 A10); 3 conference tournament titles( 2 A10 1 BE)
Marquette: 3 Regular season titles (1 Great Midwest Conference, 1 CUSA, 1 BE); 1 Conference tournament title (CUSA)
Ok maybe I see where the cocky thing comes from but i'm the exception that proves the rule

1) More recent history is clearly more important. The NCAA tournament and Basketball in general were completely different back then. Marquette was a far better program than Georgetown between 1900-1979 good for you. Georgetown has been far better from 1980-2014. I think that's a little more relevant.
2) Even looking at all time data you can't ignore that Marquette has had the least success in terms of Regular season accomplishments which are far from meaningless. I know that Marquette didn't have a conference from 1980-1990, but seeing as you only made the NCAA tournament 3 of those years I think it's safe to assume they wouldn't have come close to catching up in terms of conference titles even if they had been in a conference.
Some of you Georgetown fans should have your mail delivered to the past, you spend so much time living there. But since you brought it up...
"Recent History" (Since 1999-2000...so almost 15 years worth of material)
Marquette: 1 Final Four, 2 Elite 8s, 4 Sweet 16s, 2 Conference Championships
Georgetown: 1 Final Four, 1 Elite 8, 3 Sweet 16s, 3 Conference Championships
Since 1990-91, Georgetown has missed the tournament 9 times. Since 1990-91, Marquette has missed the tournament (gasp) 9 times.
That hardly qualifies as "far better," but congrats on being awesome when Members Only jackets were in style and Timothy Dalton was James Bond.
Fine but we also get our 1 Conference tournament championship to you 0 in that time frame as well XP
Pretty much no matter how you slice it Georgetown is the best program in the Big East.
As a Big East fan of a Big East Program I use the start of the Big East as the demarcation of the modern Era of Hoops. And it's not only because that's where most of our success lies, doing so throws out one of our Final 4's it's just that when discussing big east programs it makes sense to discuss in the context of the Big East existing.
Oh and it's soon going to be 10 times missing the tournament for Marquette

I would be worried about you guys missing it a 10th time to if I were you. Best program sure... though you do realize you earned that title only because of Patrick Ewing. Kinda like Cincinnati with their back to back titles, sure great program outside of that, but the success that set them apart was simply because of one player way back when.
2FFs, 6 Elite 8, 8 sweet 16, 10 regular season titles, 7 conference tournament titles all with out Patrick Ewing. Don't act like we haven't had success with out Patrick Ewing.

The guy who has a half dozen trips to the sweet 16 isn't a good coach? The guy is 10-1 during the first weekend and has only missed the tournament 3 times as a head coach and one of those seasons he was battling cancer and only had 6 scholarship players on his roster. Yeah he must be horrible! Whats your coaches record look like?
Garrett Tucker (@GTuckerF150): Oregon transfer Dominic Artis will visit St. John's this weekend, per a source.
St. John's looking at transfer Dominic Artis, who was kicked out of Oregon after a rape allegation.
In the search for talent, Steve Lavin is kicking a lot of transfer tires. This one has a nail in it.
We thought the recruiting for 2014 was done for St. John's. But in the ongoing search for impact talent from a coach who is willing to take on less-than-perfect players to be redeemed - Steve Lavin is supposedly hosting Dominic Artis, a transfer from Oregon, to visit the St. John's Red Storm this weekend.
The full police report is, at the very least, a reason that none of those players should be a candidate for St. John's, a school that was laid low by some questionable decision making ten years ago in Pittsburgh. The activities that Artis participated in blur the line of consent much more than the Pitt Incident did for Elijah Ingram and company.
