Creighton's played Marquette so many times, although not so much in recent years, that they should seem like a rival. But everyone likes Buzz, so it's hard to develop a healthy hatred. Honestly, it's hard to hate any of the coaches in this league. One of the few disappointments of the league is that there's no Darth Vader.

St. Johns. Never has a fan base been more delusional of their importance based on past success. "Seventh winning-est program of all time". Thats great but since 2000 both schools have been below average with 2 NCAA berths.Talking to some Johnnies fans you would think they are in a class of their own.

This I think will be SHU's top rivalry going forward. I love the fact that we have Whitehead and all top NY recruits coming next year. I know we are targeting Santos, Govan, Buie and other city guys next year, and I am sure St Johns is gunning for Briscoe and other Jersey guys. I hope we burst their NCAA bubble tonight at home (where they havent won since like 98). And if that is "bad" for the Big East so be it

Now that is some juice. The loss of civility and speaking one's true inner thoughts is often the true measure of a rivalry. I like it PhillyP.

You know unless you look at BE regular season titles and Big East Tournament titles:

Georgetown: 11 regular season titles (10 BE); 10 Conference tournament titles (7 BE)

Villanova: 7 regular season title( 4 BE 3 A10); 3 conference tournament titles( 2 A10 1 BE)

Marquette: 3 Regular season titles (1 Great Midwest Conference, 1 CUSA, 1 BE); 1 Conference tournament title (CUSA)

Ok maybe I see where the cocky thing comes from 8-) but i'm the exception that proves the rule

Ultimately the BET is just more Big East games. A program's success is measured in the Big Dance, not its conference tourney, and that is what I was referring to. I do understand that this is not a concept Hoya fans like to accept these days.

Spoken like someone who has never had real success. You don't get to throw out Conference Championships both regular season and Tournament Championships just because you don't have a lot of them. They matter.

Fine you want to go NCAA Tournament All time:

Georgetown 1 National Title, 4 Title Game Appearances, 5 Final 4's, 9 Elite 8s, 11 Sweet 16s, 29 Tournament Appearances.
Villanova 1 National Title, 1 Title Game Appearance , 3 Final 4's, 11 Elite 8s, 15 Sweet 16s, 32 Tournament Appearances.
Marquette 1 Nation Title, 2 Title Game Appearances, 3 Final 4's, 7 Elite 8s, 16 Sweet 16s, 31 Tournament Apperances.

Of Course if we limit things to the Big East Era things look a little different:
Georgetown 1 National Title, 3 Title Game Appearances, 4 Final 4's, 8 Elite 8s, 11 Sweet 16s, 25 Tournament Appearances.
Villanova 1 National Title, 1 Title Game Appearance , 2 Final 4's, 6 Elite 8s, 8 Sweet 16s, 22 Tournament Appearances.
Marquette 0 Nation Titles, 0 Title Game Appearances, 1 Final 4, 2 Elite 8s, 5 Sweet 16s, 17 Tournament Apperances.

Temple fans would sometimes make the argument with Xavier fans that they were the true A-10 champions when they won the conference tournament, even if they finished a game or two back of Xavier. I always hearken back to 2006 when Xavier won the confernce tournament and got a 14 seed. Really should have been a 13 seed IMO, but the point still stands: Does that sound like a conference champion of a high mid-major? GW went undefeated in conference that year; clearly they were the champs.

Oh sure just skew the data to take away the whole time MU was coached by our hall of fame coach. This is why I said being an MU fan is like being the little brother who's done pretty much everything the other two siblings have but still gets ignored. Why don't we look at our programs pre Big East era? I'll let you look at that.

It's not going to matter who you are bringing in next year, your coach still stinks and the locker room will continue to be fractured with no leadership from upper classman. Now you'll have to deal with your star player listening to his HS coach over your head coach. We'll have a team full of talented upper classman who already have shown signs of leadership. Even with all those big time recruits your coach is still on a very hot seat. He clearly can't coach or inspire his players.

BTW We will redeem ourselves in Newark tonight and continue our winning ways while you guys continue to be a disappointment. When we win it's good for the league, no one says the same about the Pirates.

Geography and history dictates Butler for me. Reading comments from their Board apparently some of their fans don't like us much. If Villanova beats us something like ten in a row then they get the top spot. From everything I've seen, read and heard this year all of our schools are first class and will continue to root for all whenever they are out of conference, especially in the Tournament.
