VCU seems like an obvious choice to me. Easily the best on-court success of any of the candidate schools over the last 10 years. Great fanbase. And, at least for now, a great young coach with an exciting playing style. Oh, and did I mention blue is NOT one of their colors? :D

I don't get all of the concerns about public vs. private. Who cares? Public schools worked great for the Big East for 34 years. The FOIA stuff is way overblown.

If we're willing to go public, Saint Louis and VCU are the choices for expansion, barring an FBS football team dropping its program. Hands down.

I always wonder what this is supposed to mean:

A TV ratings meter?
The applause meter?
Your personal feelings meter?
A parking meter?
A metric meter?

Maybe he should tell that to Fox. They seem to be the ones who are pushing expansion.

Why UMass? Is it their 14 straight years of not making the NCAA tournament that entices you? Or is it that FBS football team? please tell

Only trying to figure out your criteria for teams that should be considered. I'm never negative on teams that make sense. What bothers me is when people contradict themselves by saying recent success matters then promoting a team who hasn't made an NCAA tournament since the 90's. Then throw in the fact they have football, I just don't understand. At least VCU is entertaining to dispute, UMass is just ridiculous.

The number: Zero

Number of NCAA Tournament victories for UMass with someone other than John Calipari coaching them.

Number of times VCU has been past the first weekend of the Tournament outside of 2011's Final Four run. See also: 1.) fluke 2.) bottle, lightning in a.
