Wed 1/29 BE Game Thread (1 Game, BU-SHU).

Postby billyjack » Wed Jan 29, 2014 1:16 am

Monday and Tuesday both featured Big East dogfights, with each game coming down to the last possessions.
Wednesday the BE has one game scheduled, featuring two teams that have combined for (unofficially) 10 overtime games this year.

Butler at Seton Hall, 9pm EST, FS1.

---> Seton Hall has won 2 of their last 4, with both losses being 1 point road losses. The Hall is finally at full strength and has been playing great ball over the last couple of weeks.

---> Butler had been playing great ball from the start and through the first week of January. Unfortunately, some very tight tough losses have set back the Bulldogs a bit. They have a tough stretch with 3 road games coming up in the next week and a half.

Standings After Tuesday Night Games:
Creighton 8-1.
Villanova 7-1.
Providence 5-2.
Xavier 5-2.
Marquette 3-4.
Seton Hall 3-4.
Georgetown 3-6.
DePaul 2-6.
St John's 2-6.
Butler 1-7.

Not looking forward to another beatdown.

What is the projected house tonight? Half full? Any Super Bowl celebs coming?

Fun game going on here. Surprised this thread isn't more active.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Just turned the game on.
Gibbs has had some big hoops since I started watching.
Willard always looks like he's going to kill someone.
Dunham heating up.

Nice road win for Butler. Seton Hall fell apart down the stretch. Tough to give up a 13-2 run to end the game.

There was a big sequence in the 2nd half (can't remember how much time was left) where Edwin had a couple of nice steals but ultimately a terrible sequence. Missed two fast break layups (one of which was out of just being selfish, could have easily dropped it to a teammate) and then missed the front end of a 1 and 1. He also lost Dunham on a deep 3 that gave Butler the lead late I believe. He played GREAT defense on Dunham for a majority of the game but slipped up down the stretch and it cost them. Hall also didn't take advantage of Teague enough IMO. He was dominant when he got the ball down low. Marshall and Brown appeared to have really good games for Butler from what I saw.

Either way, fairly entertaining game to watch.
