The hook is the offensive equivalent of hand checking, subtle or not it should be called as it creates an unfair advantage for the offensive player.

I was at the game so I guess I couldn't see a close up but from my angle Pointer literally pushed Doug right in the face a couple different times in the span of 2 seconds. And the refs were terrible both ways. The inconsistencies were off the charts.

That's just it -- it's not an "unfair" advantage anymore than allowing a defender to physically lay on the offensive player's back and hold his arms as he tries to move is "unfair." It'd be unfair if they called the defensive foul and then ignored the offensive counter to it. But they don't. You're probably right about Pinkston -- but nobody is here saying that when he lowers his shoulder and bumps the defender away it's an "unfair" advantage that should be called a charge every time, either. It's one of the rare examples of actual consistency in the officiating, imo.

Seems similar to CU and McD. Not saying losing him won't hurt, but foolish to think others won't step up. The 20 something shots DMcD took last night are now available to someone else. Wait and see before writing off the Jays.
2) Was McDermott fouled on the last shot, or did the second Creighton player involved undercut the defender causing him to fall into McDermott?

Frame by frame pictures of the shot posted on bluejay underground shows that McDermott was hit on the arm, but after the shot had just left his finger tips so it did not affect the shot, and also shows that he ran into McDermott before McDermott's feet hit the floor, knocking McDermott over. Zierden (screener) did not undercut the defender. Zierden set a solid screen and the defender bowled him over trying to get through him to get to McDermott.
