Wow, came here to say how I was impressed by how hard the johnnies played and come to find a bunch of whinnie bitches here....you guys might want to stop posting as you are embarassing a great effort by your team....I have to say I think we found the most pompous fan base of the BE, kind of reminding me of shocker fans...to those johnnie fans that are good posters and fans good luck the rest of the way.

Jesus Christ, I thought we left the wichitard whiny fans back in the Valley.

The demise of Creighton has been predicted for years by many and has yet to occur.

So what was reality, the 8-1 team getting out to an 18 point lead or the 2-6 team somehow getting close ( but never once leading in the game)?

Think about it.

And we aren't the ones who showed up here with bile venting in mind. And it's not our fault you guys can't, or won't, recruit any shooters.

We played an atrocious game save for Doug, you played pretty well, and we still hung on. Say what you want, we'll take our style and continue to do what we've done with it.

Only pretty well? Who made the rest of your team take the night off? We what, doubled your average turnovers tonight? Did we get double the average? Yeah, just pretty well I guess.

I think it was Doug being a beast and the rest of the team being meh.

Yup. You made us throw three entry passes out of bounds, dribble one off our leg that went into the backcourt, and give up not one but two steals where our guards had their head up their @$$ and lost the ball from behind and it's all you. You do play good D, but to say that you earned more than half of the TOs you wound up getting tonight you're delusional.

But I'll say it: you played great. Congratulations.

That's the great thing about the Jays - if you want to take Wragge, Manigat and others out of the game, you have to play Doug straight up and he will own you. Pick your poison - only 3 teams all year have succeeded at doing it.

Just back from the game. Observations:

1. SJ can't shoot a lick (thank God).
2. SJ is the second most athletic team we've played this year (after SDSU).
3. SJ has heart--many teams would have folded when down 18 in the second half.
4. The officiating was horrible. For anyone from SJ to be complaining is just stupid. When you throw a shoulder, it's a charge.
5. I don't want to play you guys in the tourney. Exactly the type of team that deals us fits.
6. We will miss DM big time next year, but I still think, with our redshirts and recruits, we will be in the 3-5 range in the BE.
7. SJ, good luck the rest of the way except when we play again.

So it isn't just the guards at Creighton who have their craniums up their posteriors.

JohnnyBoy wrote:I wish I could play you 1 on 1 in basketball and hook my arm around yours to get open every time. You'd say "Hey man what the hell? You can't do that"…I'd say "Exactly!". It's not sour grapes when refs really did hose the Johnnies once again. And that BS charge call on Jordan meant Doug's shot was a game winner instead of just a tie and OT. Call it sour grapes if you want I don't care, but Creighton after this year is going to be terrible unless they really put in crazy recruiting work and get guys to come to Nebraska. You can't make 3's whenever you need them and rely on 1 player forever. He's gone after this year. You will get mad at me for this, but you know it's true too. We must have lost 5 games by a combined 20 points by now including 3 ranked teams.

Sorry I have to make this my first post here as I've been looking forward to engaging in conversation on this board since I've been lurking for over a year. But you are ridiculous...did you ever think you've lost 5 games by a combined 20 points because your team isn't mentally tough enough to close? Because you have sub-par coaching? Maybe it's not a giant ref conspiracy to hold St. John's down like you keep saying.

- I wish I could play you 1 on 1 and just put my head down and ram into you with my shoulder, or give you a forearm shiver. You'd say "Hey man what the hell? You can't do that." Of course you'd also say "I'm getting screwed by the refs!" when there are none on the court

-St. John's after this year is going to continue to be mediocre at best unless they put in crazy recruiting work get at least some skilled basketball players (and not just athletes) to come to New York. You have to have players that can distribute the ball, dribble, play smart, and shoot outside 12 feet. You can't rely on a bunch of kids you could find on any playground in NYC, Chicago, or LA to throw up garbage and try to out to out-athlete everyone. You will get mad at me for this, but you know it's true. The difference between a team like St. John's and say Syracuse is that their athletes also can play some fundamental basketball and have discernible skills outside running and jumping.

-Why don't you worry about yourself before you worry about Creighton's future? I don't think a single Jays fan is expecting us to win the league next year, but we aren't going to roll over like you expect us to. Of course we will need to recruit better; our team and our recruiting has been geared to compete in the MVC. We haven't even had a full year's recruiting cycle yet to capitalize on our conference change.

Now that all being said to JohnnieBoy, hats off to St. Johns for trying to make this a one-on-one game, cutting off passing lanes, and taking Wragge completely out of the game. Your length and athleticism really bothered us (which is disturbing that we didn't learn from the SDSU game). This was an absolutely terrible game to not have Gibbs, and to have Brooks play so poorly in a game when he was sorely needed to create off the dribble.

St. Johns may have been one of the best defensive teams we played all season, but man are they terrible on offense. The fact that our defense coughed up an 18 point lead to THAT offense is almost as disturbing as our lack of team scoring. If we play like that in the Garden we will lose to this team. However, that was a C effort at BEST (only because of McDermott's performance). If we aren't soft with the ball and don't get lax on defense, that game balloons to over 20.

Great job, good effort
