Tues 1/28 BE Game Thread (1 Game, SJU-CU).

Creighton is literally a 1 man team. McDermott. Yes I said it.

So sick of the hooking that McDermott does and never gets called for. SJ once again coming right to the ropes of a ranked upset for the 4th time this year. And once again, SJ confirms it's the unluckiest team in the country. Take McDermott off this Creighton team and they are on training wheels.

Bitter are we? Doug had 14 points last game and we still beat Georgetown. Today, we needed our star to carry Creighton on his back. However, this is far from a one man team.

Hmm well let's see. The refs literally saying "Here Creighton! You win"…yeah that's kind of rough. We come all the way back from 18 then Jordan makes an and 1 but wait no! It's an offensive foul…duh. Creighton is at home…duh. I wish I could play you 1 on 1 in basketball and hook my arm around yours to get open every time. You'd say "Hey man what the hell? You can't do that"…I'd say "Exactly!". It's not sour grapes when refs really did hose the Johnnies once again. And that BS charge call on Jordan meant Doug's shot was a game winner instead of just a tie and OT. Call it sour grapes if you want I don't care, but Creighton after this year is going to be terrible unless they really put in crazy recruiting work and get guys to come to Nebraska. You can't make 3's whenever you need them and rely on 1 player forever. He's gone after this year. You will get mad at me for this, but you know it's true too. We must have lost 5 games by a combined 20 points by now including 3 ranked teams.

Lotta whining going on for a team that spends most of their time throwing their shoulder into the defender's chest and pretending it's an offense.

Maybe we will be terrible next year, but face the facts, your team IS terrible this year. enjoy the bottom of the conference.

If I was St Johns fan, I would really question the defense on the last play. The "Lets make Doug McDermott beat us, go ahead and leave him open.

Chin up Johnny Boy. This was a tough game for either team to lose. This time we won. Refs? I don't know. In the heat of the emotion I couldn't say either way. If I get a chance to watch replays a couple times, chances are I might be able to see things. I honestly don't know what a foul is or is not any more. Same goes for traveling. etc. Not just this game but almost all games anymore.

Tonight it was a one man team. Next time maybe not. Doug is good enough that he can just take over a game when necessary. Whether we would have won or lost tonight, having played such an athletic team will help us get better and hopefully do better in March. In the meantime, we have to come to your house in about 10 days. So maybe you get to exact some revenge then. Or maybe we learn from this game and put you away early. Who knows? We'll find out soon enough though.

As far as next year goes. We'll most probably take a step or two back. But I don't think this year will be the last time you'll be hearing from us. And when we see how the redshirts and recruits come along, it could be as early as next year. I doubt it but we won't know for sure until the games are played.

Johnnies were everything I feared they would be tonight. Respect every team in this league. Every school too beyond just their teams.

Johnny boy - You just lost to a team who, if grades were issued to its individual players, would only have two players get higher than a D, and one is Dingman who would probably get a C- based on dumb turnovers and silly fouls. And you still lost.

St John's showed some guts rallying to tie, but there is no excuse for letting McDermott get a completely wide open look. For that reason alone they didn't deserve the win. That's basic stuff.

DM had 36 pts going into the last play, 60% of CU's points, and there was a 99.999999999% chance he was going to take the shot... he should've been double-teamed or maybe Sampson should've been guarding him, or someone or two guys at least should have been in Doug's shorts.

Oh just wait! I can see it now. No McDermott 40 points, no automatic 3's, no Wragge, no Gibbs, etc. etc. Creighton will be the new DePaul next year. Creighton has a lot of trouble with long, athletic teams. Lucky for Creighton we have zero shooters on this team. And the calls down the stretch were atrocious. I feel terrible for this team. They fight all the way back only for the zebras to wave off a 3 point play in the final seconds. Only for McDermott to make a 3 to win it. If I'm St. John's, I tell the refs to look specifically for his hooking move. I've seen him do that countless times and never once called. I have no idea how no refs have been choked by St. John's players at this point. That's how terrible the refs have been in our close games.

To the Creighton fans that think you will take only a step back instead of a cinderblock being dropped into the ocean, you are crazy. 91% of your offense including the best player in the country are bye byes next year. I think Creighton fans will be longing for these guys just like SJ fans have been longing for another Jackson, Mullin, and Berry since the mid 80's.

Dougie McBuckets has to be National Player of the Year. Should be unanimous. Guy is a stud. With the rest of the week off, Creighton can now climb in the polls and solidify their RPI as other teams lose (Iowa, Pitt, etc).

On the flipside, even in defeat St John's is showing great signs tonight with more that half the BE season left to play. This may just be a tiny blip in a continued winning streak.

I watched Fox Sports Live first, then switched to Sportscenter for the Creighton highlights and then switched back to Fox Sports Live .

So mr. troll who created an account just now, if we are terrible then why did we shut down your team and almost beat you at home in front of a sell out crowd?

Oh and the Big East has always played physical ball. If you don't like that style of play you should go back to watching the MVC.
