Just a TV note:
Bob Costas will be interviewing Creighton ('57) alum, Omaha-native, and Baseball HOF member Bob Gibson on the MLB Network, this coming Thursday at 9:30pm (January 30th).
The 30-minute show is title "My Most Memorable Game", and I think it will be about his 17 strikeout game vs Detroit in Game 1 of the '68 Series (though to me, his '64 Game 7 complete game seems legendary, it being his 3rd win that Series). Costas usually discusses more than just the topic at hand, so may touch on his early years and college career as a Creighton basketball star.
I was wondering if Gibson keeps in touch with Creighton in any way, or if Bluejay fans can share any stories or insight about him. For me, he was retired only a year after I started following baseball, so I don't really remember watching him first-hand. But I always considered him a living legend in the Marichal, Koufax, Seaver, Drysdale mold. Red Sox fans remember him from 1967 of course. Anyway, he always seemed like a gentleman and I'll definitely tune in.
