Tues 1/21 BE Game Thread (1 Game, BU-PC).

So, we're all gonna be exhausted after Monday's three-course meal of heavy Chicago Deep Dish casserolle pizza-type stuff with Rhinelander on the side, Omaha-raised Philly cheesesteaks, and a Miller-beer-battered filet prepared by the White House chef at the Phone Booth...

...consider Tuesday's game as a sensible light Italian dessert on the Hill... a cool down night of a spumoni "slab" (don't see spumoni much anymore, just at Angelo's and probably Twin Oaks), or a cannoli ("take the cannoli...") ...anyway...

Butler at Providence, 9pm, FS1.

The first ever matchup of teams voted "Least Likely To Ever Have A Strong Rivalry" on HLoH (ok, there was no official vote), which means I half expect a Pier-Six brawl that may or may not include the Friar Dance Team, Jimmy Chitwood, Barlow's left elbow, Goldsbrough's Toon Army, Kadeem Batts' bad-ass-looking mouthpiece, the intense rebounding matchup of Woods vs Henton, plus a David Hasselhoff appearance, all wrapped into a 9pm start on a Tuesday...

- Butler coming off a crucial morale-boosting OT win at Hinkle vs Marquette. In only 1 game all year have they not been competitive. Lots of ball to be played, and they could easily make a run.

- Providence is coming off a big win vs Creighton, and needs to keep focus vs the Dawgs. PC needs, among many things, to keep track of Dunham, and make sure that Marshall is held in check too.

Any team, on any given night can win. I see a close game coming down to the last few minutes. PC plays great at home tho, and im completely biased, so ill take PC to win it 71 to 65.

It's funny how so many of us root for the team most likely to make the NCAA Tournament (myself included).

I have no idea what to think of Providence. I'll root for them to win, but I have no idea what to think of the team.

Agreed, I saw the game they lost to Seton Hall and I saw them almost lose to Yale at home. The team yesterday probably would have beaten most teams in the NCAA. Hopefully that one is the one we see the rest of the way.

I'm a Friar fan and I have no idea what to think of them or what to expect from them on any given night.

Only thing I know is that the core 6 players play really hard and when they take care of the ball they can hang around. Problem is, they really only have 6 BE level players on the roster (literally).

The Northeast could be in for some ugly, snowy, icy weather on Tuesday night. I'm hoping not because this could impact the crowd for a 9 PM game.

Or it could impact travel for Butler and make it rougher on them getting there.

I think it is closer than that. I think this is a game of strengths with Butlers two best defenders matched up with Providence's two best offensive threats. Key to the game will be can Barlow slow down Cotton and stay out of foul trouble. He is a pretty good on ball defender. How the refs call the inevitable contact Cotton will create will be telling.

NYC currently getting blasted with snow. How is it up in RI?

Attendance will likely be terrible tonight.
