This is a pretty ridiculous question if you asked me and I considered locking the thread once it started to turn negative, but I wanted to respond to it myself so I didn't.

My concern is not about the new teams fading, but about some Big East holdovers elevating their programs. Two of the three teams likely in the NCAA tournament are new additions which tells me the C7 need to get our act together. Seriously, what does that say about the rest of the league? The 3 new schools were added because they have been successful while some of the longer term members have not been relevant in a very long time.

I think this response is spot on. I remember the column that Andy Katz wrote when we announced we were seperating. Maybe he was a bit too harsh- but the fact is a lot of the C7 does need to get their act together. Georgetown, Marquette have been doing great the last several years(this years struggles aside). Nova when Katz wrote the piece was really struggling, but they have turned the corner for sure and looks like a top 2-3 seed for sure this year. But St John's, Providence, Seton Hall, and DePaul? They need to step up consistently. Everyone's said well they just got beaten down by the old BE. Maybe. But- only DePaul looks different this year so far- they have as many BE wins already this year as they did last year. The other 3- 2-7 in conference with 1 of the wins vs each other.

Xavier Troll getting loose on a thread. As a Xavier fan I think the school that will fade is Butler is like asking(objectively of course) a Yankees fan if New York or Boston has a higher average IQ. Sometimes your position dictates which questions you can even ask. You have come across as a poor winner. The 10 schools were chosen because they all have demonstrated a reasonable chance at future success.

I think these threads are mostly jealousy from certain fans of C7 who schools haven't performed up to their expectations. I know as a Nova fan, since the addition of the new schools were announced, I was sort of expecting and secretly hoping that at least for the first year the old guard would show the new guys the business. I think you saw that in the preseason polls(on here, by the BE coaches, and nationally) which only had Creighton of the newbies in the top 6 of the league. I now know this was extremely misguided, which is so much easier to say since Nova is having the season were having, the 3 new schools were brought in to strengthen the conference. Thank god they're holding up there end of the bargain, because without Creighton and Xavier doing as well as they are, this conference would be getting killed in the media this year.
