The only redeeming value for Butler fans last night was the fairly neat atmosphere at the Creighton gym. Lots of energy. Compare that to the DePaul game before....well don't. Similar atmosphere to what we saw at Xavier and I dare say, what has been demonstrated at Hinkle. To me the three newbies are bringing more than their fare share of energy to the league. The rest need to keep up with us!!

Revised, replaced NYC with "Pawtucket"... sounds pretty cool... might work for other towns too... I'm thinking Fitchburg or Swampscott, Mass.

"But that's just part of the charm of the Pawtucket area. The Boss Guy That Owns the Pawsox...that's what Pawtucket is. Brash, blunt, and about being #1. That's the very identity of the area...gritty, the biggest stage, second biggest city in Rhode Island, the hustle and bustle, etc. We argued to make the spire on "Rocky's Ace Hardware" a bit taller just so we could be called the city with the tallest "Rocky's Ace Hardware" in America.

That's what we are...love it or hate it. It's just in the blood I don't know. Yes the prices are outrageous (I don't know, 10 hot wieners for $1.00 seems pretty reasonable, though the meat quality is lacking), but doesn't that tell you something? People are willing to pay $250 for an apartment in Pawtucket the size of most kitchens in the suburbs, or $100k just to live in a ranch 45 minutes outside Pawtucket (Chepachet, or Pascoag maybe...?) for the proximity. It has a draw to it. Our skyline is the most famous in the world (Department of Motor Vehicles Bldg and Lonsdale Textile Mill) and if you win here you are an instant legend. I only live 50 miles from Pawtucket, but I still get goosebumps on the RIPTA bus the second the skyline appears in the distance. Even driving 30 minutes away you can see the old Autocrat Coffee Syrup Building, Johnston Garbage Landfill and the "Medical Building That I Got My Wisdom Teeth Yanked Out At In 1988" as clear as day from 25-30 miles out...it's amazing.

Just knowing the history, all the famous people (Vinnie Pazienza, Ruth Buzzi, Davey Lopes), all the success (1884 Providence Grays won the National League title, 1927 Providence Steamrollers won the NFL title), the big stage (Trinity Playhouse is pretty cool), the culture, and just the brand of the city...it's very impressive. That's why so many songs are written about Pawtucket (did the Cowsills sing anything about Pawtucket...?) and not other cities. We are just a loud, straight-talking, cocky group of people...but living in or in the shadows of the greatest city in America (Central Falls...?) does that to you. So I agree with you that there are lots of cocky people. Here in Woonsocket your coolness factor is based on your proximity to Pawtucket. I know it may sound ridiculous but it's true. It's hard to explain but that's just how this area is. It's very annoying to have bad teams in that kind of atmosphere with the negative media and all, but when you succeed here, nowhere else can match that..."

Honest question; What happened to Stever? Did he get banned? I thought he would have chimed in at least 13 times by now.

Thanks. It's hard to just ignore it when it seems to be the main focus of almost every thread that can be even remotely tied to Creighton. I know it's a very vocal minority of people here -- but they are just so vocal it's hard to tune it out.

I will be looking forward to the big Monday night game -- after Saturday's game! I know that *I* don't have any impact on the players and what happens on the floor, but I'm taking a one-game-at-a-time approach just like I am hoping they are!

Another Nova fan here in support of Creighton. Admit I had my doubts in the beginning, but I have pleasantly surprised. I also know that the city of Omaha has some of the largest civic pride in the country, and I have no doubts they will continue to support this team for the long haul. It's too bad that the game in Philly can't be on the Saturday, as it's difficult for anyone outside of the area to make it to a Big Monday game (which historically we have played to varying successes). Good luck to you next week, we still have DePaul on our plate though who may have turned (albeit a small) corner.
