Creighton's recruiting classes the past 4 years were not only unranked, they were pretty much uncharted. Our "unranked" recruiting class is now ranked in the top 20. All the ranked recruiting classes of the C7, except for Nova are unranked. Enjoy your recruiting class ranks, I'll enjoy our AP and USAToday rank thank you.

Georgetown has been ranked each of the last 8 years in a row and has reached top 10 in the AP/Coaches rankings at some point of the year in each of the last 7 years too. Year's not over yet and I wouldn't be surprised if Georgetown was ranked at some point in the year to make it 9 straight years. There is nothing out there that indicates Georgetown will not be a top team going forward.

Just because we're unheralded and you are the most heralded doesn't exactly mean much in today's world of change.

LOL. Don't worry, us SJ fans are all out of confidence at this point. So there's 1 fanbase you don't have to worry about

I think Creighton is more likely to fade because they rely so much on 1 player: McDermott. More so than Butler or Xavier. Butler seems to be like the movie 300...they just have a small group of solid guys beating much larger armies. They rely on each other and they play together. Creighton plays together too, but it's obvious McDermott is HALF of their offense. Creighton to me is the New England Patriots. When Brady retires they will fall back to earth. Maybe they get another good QB, but it will never be an untouchable like Brady. When McDermott leaves, they will fall back to earth. Maybe they get another good player with a similar skill set, but it will never be at his level. A lot of the Creighton fans say "Well what if we DON'T fall off? That's an option too", well they are correct...it can happen. BUT how much room for improvement do you have when you have the best player in the nation? To stay the same they would need to fill Doug's enormous shoes. They'd need to have another Wooden Award esque kind of player. And they are once in a program type players. At the very least once in a lifetime like we had with Mullin. Hell even Marist had Rik Smits who was an NBA All Star with the Pacers on those Reggie Miller-led teams. He was the one guy that program had. Then they faded. I just think Creighton fans take it for granted and they just assume they will be a top 3 team every year. It's going to be a rude awakening IMO when they lose McDermott and Gibbs, as SHU, G'Town, Marquette, and Butler all get much much better at the same time. And though in a down year, SJ and Xavier are never easy wins without those guys. I predict Creighton being a .500 ish team next year. Once they get some pieces, I see them as a bubble team for the tourney. Some seasons with 17-19 wins and the occasional 20+ when they click. But not consistently ranked anymore.

Of course they rely on McDermott. He's the best player in college basketball. Yes they will regress some as we all would too. Big picture says Creighton's support will demand they perform at a high level which is more than I can say for some of the C7.

But you realize that SJ (arguably the best recruiting team in the Big East) has no recruits for 2014 right? That's a major reason why they would be 1st in recruiting compared to the C7. PC is already loaded. They didn't need to recruit a lot. Sometimes you crack the top 25 rankings in part because of the volume of recruits coming in while other teams don't need to replenish yet so they aren't looking. But at the same time, recruiting rankings mean nothing...just look at us. #3 a few years back and the wheels fell off. We basically always had highly ranked recruits since Lavin recruited here. And how'd that work out? When I say I want to see if Creighton can restock I mean find any players who can come close to matching what Gibbs and co. can do along with 1 go-to stud that will replace McDermott. Not so much about ranking as it is about quality. I just think getting a Wooden winner out of 2 stars means you are due for some duds. Within a few years Creighton fans will be saying "Ugh those were the days". That's why I'm saying enjoy him while you can. You are witnessing quite possibly the best player to ever wear your jersey. Ever.

SJ fans don't demand that we do well? Are you kidding? New Yorkers demand the world from all their college and pro teams...how has that worked out? Fans can't will another player to become McDermott. That's natural talent.

No win answer here, so I shall refrain. I think all 3 have a god chance to stick near the top. The coaching situations at SHU, SJU and DePaul leave me more worried. I don't think any of those coaches have proven that they can be a long term solution for a program to this point.

Yeah, because if anything has been proven in college basketball it's that recruiting classes don't matter

I think I'll enjoy our 3 Sweet 16s and an Elite 8 with our ranked classes quite well thank you very much

So your argument is that despite all evidence to the contrary we should all really be worried about Georgetown Falling off and becoming DePaul or St. John's because... Hey it's theoretically possible.

On DePaul, I dont think Purnell is supposed to be a long-term solution. He's supposed to get them out of the cellar and reestablish an actual program there. I think that may work out actually, and then the next coach can push them up from there. Getting out the cellar is the hardest thing to do for a program, and sometimes the coach that gets you out and the coach that takes you further are two different people.

Creighton is climbing out of the Valley, unless you're saying we're going to fall back into the MVC there's nowhere for Creighton to fall! Georgetown is a top 10 national program, PLEASE stay there! Nobody wants you to fade, believe me.
