Exactly. I look at this season as gravy for the conference. Not only is it our first season but we weren't even supposed to be formed yet. We were supposed to be in suspended animation like RU, UofL, Maryland, ECU, Tulane, etc. Thank God that didn't happen. On an individual team basis it's a different story but as a conference whatever damage we can do this season is a plus.

This year is a crucial year. You may act like we aren't supposed to be formed yet, but the fact is we are formed. We will be judged like this is our first season together. It's not like folks will treat us like it's a mulligan like you are making it sound like we have one. You don't get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression.

And I'm sorry- but there is a huge difference just getting to the dance- and being in a position where you realistically can advance. Some of you think that seeding doesn't mean anything. It means in a lot of ways everything. Generally speaking you are a 8/9 seed, you won't be out of the 1st weekend. Just look at Creighton last few years with 7 and 8 seeds. It's hard beating a top 8 team(and a lot of times at a road team disadvantage). There's a reason why 1 seeds are 122-21 vs 8/9 seeds in the tournament. Or 2 seeds are 92-42 vs 7/10 seeds. Compare to 3 seeds who are 75-49 vs 6/11 seeds(with 44-37 vs 6 seeds) or 4 seeds who are 46-37 vs 5 seeds. Teams seeded 1-6 historically have a winning record in the tournament, while teams seeded 7 and lower have a losing record. Seeds are hardly window dressing.

Well that was ugly. But it was an easy game to turn off. Got to bed at a decent time.

+1 to counter TheHall. It's the tough truth. Based off Xavier's trend since Atlantis, I think the Big East could end up with 3 teams in that 1-6 range, but Georgetown and any other team that somehow sneaks in (via at-large bid or auto-bid) will probably fall below that seeding. It could actually do Georgetown good if they get an 11 seed instead of a 10 seed. 11 seeds aren't terrible against 6 seeds, and then they're facing a 3 seed instead of a 6 seed in the next round.

Exactly, that's why you will never get a second chance; you'll be a douche on this board forever Stever :D .

The contract with FS1 is 10 years. All the programs are solid and moving to be greater. Let's talk in 2024.

Realignment is a long game, yet posters are making huge statements off of short term results and who is this "They" that seems to be judging whether or not to give our league a mulligan or to decide if our league is doomed or not...I know it's not FOX.

It's folks that for one make the OOC schedules. Schedule the exempt tournaments. Things that in the long term matter in getting exposure in November and December to set you up for the season. Also, giving our teams the benefit of the doubt so in the NCAA committee room when selection Sunday rolls around, our conference means something- gets the bid that maybe they don't deserve. Kind of like this season, if MWC is close with any other good conference- do you think they're going to get the benefit of the doubt for their team? I don't. Things can snowball pretty quickly.
