Did you forget about this incident? I love the reaction from the guys in the stand...haha

Yeah, I don't get the fans' overreaction... except that they were a bunch of drunk knuckleheads... Buzz was 10 feet from the WVa logo that they claimed he disrespected... guy was happy that Marquette won in front of an obnoxious crowd, had to walk across the court for the interview will Raftery, and danced for 3 seconds... anyone here miss having West Virginia in the conference...? Many of them used to act the way Creighton fans describe Wichita State fans. Except I don't think Shocker fans burn couches.

I don't like the anal-retentive coaches like Crean who freakin scream on the sidelines with red faces like lunatics. Buzz is animated but isn't a whining loon... :)

"a bunch of drunk knuckleheads"

This is one of the more generous descriptions I've heard for that fanbase. I lived in Morgantown for a year after graduation (my wife was there for the first two years of med school), and my God, how I grew to despise WVU students. Obviously, no group of people is universally bad and I met some good people there, but I never regularly encountered such a high concentration of assholes, douchebags, and tools in my life. I doubt you miss those fans at all.

And Buzz's little two-step after beating them was priceless.

Today's feature story in our Omaha (World Herald) fish wrap''a sports section that coils prompt some fun discussion about this thread topic:

FriarFan and SteveR, I wasn't wishing you two would completely disappear, so what do you think?

I saw that article and liked it from a Creighton perspective. But a couple of misconceptions;

1) Xavier was associated with Creighton and Butler as being not athletic. I'm guessing the writer (and one of the players) just made the assumption that since Xavier was previously in a mid-major conference that they recruited your prototypical mid-major player (unathletic but a good shooter with a high IQ). Xavier's been recruiting like a major program for a few years now, and the starting 4 and 5 guys are the only ones I would term "unathletic." Everyone else ranges from fairly athletic to highly athletic.

EDIT: Butler has some athletes on their team too.

2) One of the players talked about how the teams they've faced are more athletic but not as skilled as MVC teams. Okay, Creighton has faced Seton Hall and DePaul, along with a Marquette team whose offensive woes are well-chronicled. Maybe a little perspective is needed lol.

Creighton will drop off after this season.but you have to remember it's cause we are losing 4 of our starting 5 not just mcd leaving.

Bolded part pretty much nails it, from the old BE schools perspective.

Why is this thread all about Creighton? We are already in the Big East so our past is meaningless. Our future is bright for all the gazillion reasons listed above. The programs I'm worried about are everyone else. Every single other team except Villanova appears to be on a down year. All y'all need to look yourself in the mirror and admit your programs are skating on thin ice. Georgetown, St Johns, Seton Hall and Providence fans, sorry to say your teams look like they are going the way of the Blue Demons more than when you had Thompson, Carnesecca, Carlessimo and Pitino. Add Marquette to the list, and X fans, I'm pretty sure you're wishing you still had Matta or Miller. Butler, are you just thrilled Miller replaced Stevens? Get some perspective kids.
