Games starting later?

Postby DeltaV » Thu Jan 09, 2014 7:10 pm

Are the Fox Sports Big East games starting later? Just channel flipping now, noticing that the DePaul Butler game is just tipping off, while Louisville Memphis is 3 minutes in, and when I was at the Providence Villanova game it seemed like we didn't get started until nearly quarter after. A few other FS1 games I've watched seemed like they were always 2-4 minutes behind games on ESPN (I love the Big East and am happy to support FS1...but I'm going to be honest, I'm probably going to watch Louisville Memphis over Depaul Butler, or even fellow Philly team Temple vs. USF on the U).

Is FS running more commercials or commentary before games? Or are these just some coincidences?

It also seems some of the TV timeouts are longer than they were back in the A10. Could be just imagining that (I most likely am imagining it), but if not that may explain why our games are behind other games that start at the same time.

I've noticed that they do seem to be adjusting start times for the later games when they have more than one game scheduled in a row. I figured they were doing that to try to avoid missing some action from the later games when the game preceding it went long.

I do appreciate them adjusting start times (they pushed back the Creighton/SH game 12 minutes last Saturday) to try and make sure they get the full games in for each game. ESPN usually doesn't care and when they schedule in 2 hour increments and you wouldn't see the first 15-20 minutes of your game. I also appreciate them broadcasting the second game on FS2 when the first goes late regardless of what is being broadcast on that channel (usually nothing special).
