Initially, FF2 said CU was in the group of solid programs that are positioned well for long term success. I agree, but I'm a CU fan. Steve contested that we have some pretty big questions to answer with replacing this year's seniors and Improving our performances in March. Seems pretty reasonable. We have built a solid program in Omaha and we look to continuing that in the Big East. There will be a lot of work to do in the next 2 years to get the talent to compete at the level we expect and to rebuild our team after it graduates its core identity. We hope that the culture and brand of basketball we play will be carried on.
MUBoxer...I think the Big East has several programs that will have runs of success. At least I hope so. It will make the league a lot more fun and we need several relevant programs the Big East tradition alive.
No CU fan expects to come in and be the cream of the crop forevermore. I do think we expect to compete more years than not. Our fans and school are used to winning (except deep runs in March) we didn't join the Big East just to participate.

Great post. It'll be very interesting to see how the rest of the year plays out. Solid news on Gibbs which was huge I think. If anything may make you guys even deeper come March.

Georgetown
Villanova
Marquette
Xavier
Butler
(I'm not too concerned with the order, but whatever order you decide, there isn't a big drop-off between any two schools in this group)
Creighton
Providence
Seton Hall
DePaul
Creighton is that middle school, not the guarantee for the conference like Xavier and Butler were, nor the up-and-down programs like the bottom three are. And - this part is important - they were tabbed to move up to the Big East at a very opportune time: The school support is coming on strong and they have one of the best teams they've ever had (justifying a more national spotlight). If they were left in the MWC, it would be harder for them to sustain success and they would be more likely (though not guaranteed) to go back to what was a decent program but not a really good program. With the Big East brand and exposure, though, they are in great position to elevate their program, especially if they perform well in the tournament this season.

I agree with this and many other points by some BJays fans. Although THIS is the year they absolutely need to make some noise in the tourney (as most Jays fans concede), the long term prognosis is very good for CU. They will probably take one step back in the next year b/c they are losing a 3x AA, but I expect consistent teams from CU for a while.
Geographically they are the only big time BB-only school around. If they can dominate recruiting in the Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, MO areas and sell the idea of the BE being the premier hoops only conference out west, their talent level will rise. Fan support, atmosphere, TV, schedule all are big positives. I think their program is in great shape. Solid add.
