Agree, am surprised how heated this series seems to be already. Some of us are still trying to figure out who to hate.

Since you are apparently not associated with either team in this rivalry, why do you need to pick sides?

Don't think he was looking to pick sides, I think he meant that most teams are still trying to figure out who will be their most heated rival, and that X and Butler fans have already seemed to figure that out.

I don't think that's the case really... Xavier fans are still sore about the scoreboard incident a couple years back (I know... get over it) but aside from that I think there's a good respect for the programs. The biggest thing is that we have played them in the past, so that's the only team we really know all that well, and they are only 120 minutes away, compared to several states away for other schools.

It's harder to reminisce with someone you just met!

Nahh...I genuinely dislike them.

Yes, that's what I meant, thank you. With new league members and Syracuse and UConn leaving, some of us need to figure out where to direct our animosities.

Here's my take on the game, now that I'm no longer reveling in the moment of a good win!

In my mind, I consider Xavier the primary rival of Butler now. For many years, we really didn't have a rival...we were every other school's rival. It's great to be in a conference where you actually have to play every game!

I got some weird stares wearing my Butler gear on X's campus this past semester. There's definitely some animosity there.

Or maybe I'm just really hateable ;)

Oh come on now. You get weird stares no matter what you wear.

Xavier and Butler not only compete on the hardwood, but for students in academia, fundraising money, and proximity. It's deeper than just basketball.
