I certainly dont believe that showing an ID prevents rape or sex. The fact that they were suspended suggests that whatver happened, it wasn't rape. Do you honestly believe an institution that has a policy where girls have to ok a guys visit and that guy needs to leave his ID at the door, would look the other way in a rape case? The school believes their visitation policy is a major selling point with parents. It wasnt until a few years ago that PC finally allowed coed dorms. (by wing or floor)Sex does happen at PC. if sex was involved in this case I have no doubt it was consensual. If they were accussed of rape, the city of Providence police department would have been involved. Since the police have no record of a complaint and both individuals were cleared to return to the team next year this case doesnt involve rape

"The fact that they were suspended suggests that whatver happened, it wasn't rape."
I'm honestly confused here. You list suspension as a possibility for a rape accusation, but then you say that because they were suspended, it wasn't rape. This a direct contradiction. Did you leave out a word accidentally in your post?
And yes, I could see Providence "looking the other way" on a rape case. "Looking the other way" isn't the best phrase though; "keeping it quiet" is more accurate, as they work to handle a case internally without police involvement. Why could I see Providence doing that? Because almost all colleges do exactly that. And that policy is not mutually exclusive with checking IDs at the door. They institute the ID policy to make parents happy, I agree. And colleges also handle rape cases internally in order to make parents happy. In the second case, happy through ignorance. No college wants to be the one where rape happens; it's bad publicity and bad for student recruiting. It doesn't matter that rape occurs far too frequently at all colleges. Still, all colleges, Providence included, want it to appear to be an anomaly, something that parents would be mildly aware of but for whom it wouldn't seem to be a serious problem. So, they'll handle these cases internally as often as they can. And, they can make judgments on the cases with far less evidence than the courts, so a person can be suspended or expelled while at the same time, the city of Providence police department abstains from involvement. Universities "encourage without explicitly encouraging" victims to let the university handle the case. Victims also frequently have no inclination to take the case to the police. So it stays a university matter, with no police involvement whatsoever.
The sex tape story sounds more likely, but that doesn't rule out rape on a college campus, where it tends to stay quiet.

You sir are totally out of touch. Brandon Austin WANTED to be at Providence because of Ed Cooley. He chose our tiny, recently unaccomplished school over the likes of Texas, UCONN, Georgetown, and Temple after bailing from Penn State.
I don't know the details of the sketchy female encounter by him and Bullock, but what I do know is no criminal charges were pressed. The school looks terrible here. Either they covered up sexual assault/rape or imposed premarital sex Catholic code of conduct on these young men.
Our credibility in Philly is ruined because of this. We won't be getting a high-major recruit from Philly for some time. Providence has no depth right now and has three reliable Big East players in Cotton, Henton, and Harris. The team is crumbling and won't sniff .500 in conference play. Next year we have a good recruiting class coming in, but only two reliable veterans in Henton and Harris. Dunn is legit but so far he's proven to be Mr. Glass.
Brandon Austin has a versatile offensive game and is a definitive NBA prospect. He would have been a reliable ball handler (certainly better than Fortune). Providence College basketball is on life support right now and Cotton is the only thing keeping it alive. Our offense is run by or through Cotton. Providence is definitely finishing 9/10 in the Big East. You heard it here first!
