So what is fox going to put on instead? Infomercials? They have to show something. Might as well run some quality programming and hope some people wander over to check it out at times.

Its not like we're limited in big east games to show. They have like a hundred of them. Using five of those games on new year's day is not a huge commitment or investment.

New years eve is a sit at home and watch sports day. Might as well try to be a part of it. Can't sit that day out because we are afraid of another station having better ratings. That would be stupid.

what did fox have on this year on New Years Day? UFC I think.

It just wouldn't shock me to see Fox not do the marathon on New Years eve next year for sure. It's no guarantee that's for sure.

I have been following this great forum since it's birth, and enjoying a new forum family. Most on a good forum understand they are about sharing passion, info/learning, and reasonable discussion, and most who mostly read and not post get tired of bickering, nitpicking and gloom and doom.

Don't kill this site before it grows up, which has already happened to the "other" Big East forum for most of us.

Funny new GUS & BILL, BIG EAST BASKETBALL commercial.

That is the type of espoxure and commitment that Fox is showing the conference that should have everyone excited about this venutre. Fox is making us their product. Fox is investing in our brand. Fox is a great partner for this.

To compare this commitment to internet espn 3 games and espn news games is ridiculous.

I think a point- look at tonight's basketball schedule vs the football title game:
http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/scoreboar ... &confId=50

outside of Maryland/Pittsburgh(a 3rd tier ACC game) and Southern/Texas Southern(a SWAC game)- there is no college hoops on TV this evening. What is on is hardly great ball.

yeah. Right now AAC has 5 teams in top 46 RPI.

Yeah, but right now RPI Forecast has only 3. RPI at midseason doesn't mean much. Here's how RPI Forecast has the AAC right now:

15. Louisville
28. Cincinnati
29. Memphis
52. UConn
58. SMU
120. Temple
154. Central Florida
187. Houston
197. South Florida
209. Rutgers

This is just an awful basketball league by big time standards and it's only going to get worse. They will be losing Rutgers, which is addition by subtraction although that program at least has potential. But here is what they have to look forward to as replacements for Louisville and Rutgers over the next 2 years:

141. East Carolina
163. Tulsa
276. Tulane

It's got UConn at 51.6 and SMU at 57.2. The winner of that 4/5 game almost guaranteed will be in the tourney.
Also look at UConn. 11-1 OOC- and projected to beat Harvard. 12-1 OOC. Then projected 10-8 in conference. 22-9 right? For some reason, they say 21-10. At 22-9, their projected RPI is 45.4
SMU- 10-2 OOC- and they don't have the make up with Hofstra I believe. 11-7 in conference. That's 21-9. 54.2 there..

ECU and Tulsa won't have all the RPI killers in the conference. And yes- CUSA has a lot more of those- 5 others with RPI's worse than 200- and a team worse than 300. That alone will help the new teams RPI's. If you think it doesn't- look at Houston. Last year they were 17-11 before conference tourney(10-2 OOC). RPI was 195 entering conference tourney. This year they are projected as 15-16. with 187 RPI projected. So 3 1/2 games worse than last year- but 8 spots better RPI.

Sorry Stever, I have had to put you on my ignore list since you keep quoting FF2. (Sort of defeats my function of ignoring him.) Plus neither of you can seem to take a few hundred subtle and not so subtle hints from the board. Since I won't be seein' ya anymore, go ahead and talk rings around yourselves which I am sure you will do anyway. Chow!
