Ken Pom after tonight

Just looking at things now- and looking at our tourney status if he's 100% right now.
Villanova #8. 11-1 so far, plus 13-5 projected. 24-6(plus Temple) Lock
Creighton #16 9-2 so far, plus 12-6 projected. 21-8(plus Chi St). Lock
Georgetown #28 8-3 so far, plus 11-7 projected. 19-10(plus Mich St) lock
Xavier #39 10-3 so far, plus 10-8 projected 20-11
Marquette #42 8-5 so far plus 10-8 projected 18-13
(note, I think the winner of the 4/5 Xavier/Marquette game would be in. Loser out(especially if it's Marquette))
Butler #50 10-2 so far plus 9-9 projected 19-11. May need win vs Georgetown to get in tourney
St John's #56. 9-3 so far plus 8-10 projected 17-13(plus Dartmouth) NIT
Providence #66. 10-3 so far plus 8-10 projected 18-13 NIT
Seton Hall #119 9-4 so far plus 5-13 projected 14-17. No postseason
DePaul #134 8-5 so far plus 4-14 projected 12-19. No postseason

I think of the 3 locks, Georgetown would be the closest to not one if we lose 1 more game in conference to go 10-8- then lose to Michigan St. That'd be 18-12 and probably would need a win in the BET to make the tourney. Xavier would have a shot if they lose 1st round of making the tourney at 20-12, but that would as it always hinge on other conferences with teams stealing bids. Of the NIT teams, I think St John's has the best shot to do better. Maybe at Butler's expense. Still not sold on them all that much...

Well it's settled then... Let's call each school and let them know that the conference games are meaningless since we've already figured out what's going to happen.

6 teams in the top 50 RPI as of today. I can't imagine not getting atleast 4 teams in, probably 5. The key is getting separation between the top 5-6 teams from the bottom. Can't have 3-4 teams hanging at 9-9 at the end of the year.

Getting 40%-50% of the conference into the NCAAs with a couple more in the NIT would be a pretty darn solid showing. But I agree it's hard to predict anything too specific with the majority of the games still remaining.

All three of the conference's "new" programs are within the Top 50 as conference season starts and among the best 6 in the league.

This is what you want from expansion, the average IMPROVING not simply adding teams.

This is also why expansion isn't happening anytime soon because the three that were added were the only ones that could actually be expected to do this typically (who fit the conference regional and institutional makeup)

Although I always root for SHU to win, and we need Auda, Mobley, Gibbs and Sina to continue to improve to be better next year with our recruits . But I will be the first to say that the best thing for the BE this year is for SHU and DePaul to have very poor conference records.

Let's not make this another expansion thread...
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Semi related, tonight Tennessee is blowing out Virginia by 37 with 8 to go... that should put the Cavaliers to bed for the year... best conference ever... Also, UNC-Greensboro only down 2 to NC State with 4 minutes left...
