The only difference in your analysis is that you focused on 10 years rather than 25, and Creighton still had a better record in the time frame you cherry picked to make WSU look "better". I chose 25 years because I pulled data from a few different sites and the one with the shortest amount of history only went back 25 years.

I can't argue with your postseason success last year, it was a nice run. You guys also have a nice team this year and have a shot to make some noise. Regardless of that, the intent of my post was to put to bed the idea that WSU may end up in the Big East. As I have stated and you agreed, WSU is not a fit for the Big East. This is a message board for the Big East. We really don't need to talk about WSU any more than we already have.

Best of luck this year, I will honestly be pulling for to win the conference tournament, especially since that would keep an extra bid from going to someone else as you appear to be at large bound anyway.

You are using an arbitrary number (25 years) which just happens to include Creighton's best years and Wichita State's worst and stated "they are not a consistent program, even in the MVC". In a more recent time frame WSU has been very consistent and arguably more success then Creighton over that span. Did the Big East look at the vast period between 1962 to 1997 when Butler never made it to the NCAA tourney in evaluating its "consistency"? Of course not. In fact Butler set the standard - the ONLY reason they are in the Big East is because of what they have accomplished in the past 10 years.

While this is a message board about the Big East - this is an EXPANSION thread ... ergo - that means talking about programs NOT in the Big East! While we both agree that WSU is not a logical choice - some apparently do. Crazier things have happened like a Catholic league forming after so many said it was a pipe dream.

I kinda like this discourse between WSU and Creighton fans. I'm not sure if this is a healthy dis-like for one another but the BE could use something like that.

You definitely don't want this place invaded by Wichita Community College fans. They turn message boards into cess pools like no other fan base on the planet.

Using 25 is not any more factually inaccurate than you using 10 years. Even within the last 10 years, Creighton had a higher winning percentage both within conference and overall. In terms of consistency, Creighton had a winning conference record each of the last 10 years. WSU had 3 consecutive years with a losing record in conference play over the last 10. While the peaks help them average out to pretty good, they haven't exactly been consistent.

In terms of comparing other schools, Butler is a private school in a geographically better fit. With WSU being a public school in a geographically poor fit, there would need to be some overwhelming reason otherwise to include them in the conversation. It just isn't there. I wouldn't be surprised to see you get invited to another conference based on your success on the court (good baseball program too), but it just isn't a fit for the Big East.

I think the AAC is the best fit for WSU IF the AAC decided to add non-football schools. The pay is slightly better, the travel is ALOT worse and they run the risk of staying in a conference where everyone is a flight risk like Cincy and UCONN.

I 2nd this!

You have sort of got the feel of it already with Wichita fans coming over here and signing up on a board that they have nothing what so ever to do with. But imagine it a billion times worse.

Wichita fans will never be able to get over the Jays having scoreboard on them for probably ever.

Similarly, there's a lot of Dayton fans trolling the Marquette board as well. Poor man's Xavier.
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

I believe I know what you were after there with your comment, but please don't compare Xavier to Dayton when it comes to basketball. If it's about being poor in comparison, then we are truly talking about being totally impoverished when it comes to UD.

If the WSU and UD fan bases came into contact with one another, would they explode into anti-matter?

BTW, the UD fans take great pride in believing they own Marquette due to some recent wins against MU. It's a silly notion, but that's how they think on UDPride. When you don't have much to strut about as a program, this is the kind of stuff you come up with to feel good about yourself.

So I was looking back at some of the older threads. Before it became official, EMT posted that X,Creigh, and Butler will be added for 2013- and then Dayton and St. Louis in 2014. Its quite likely that this is the scenario and they wanted to wait on the last 2 because they did not want to add 5 brand new teams all in 1 year.

Ackerman later said that expansion was not currently in the discussion after the 10 became official.
Xavier AD said that we will be adding 2 teams within 5 years.
Regardless, I took a look at some of the schools that fit the New Big East Profile. Truth is there are not a lot of options.

Tier 1: Best possible fits.
St. Louis- good fit, new market, good fan support. Most likely out of any of the teams.
Dayton- Great fan support, arena, etc. But duplicates Ohio and not great on court recently.
Richmond- Solid team that could work. Good arena, support, on court performance.

Tier 2: Reaching
Gonzaga- we all know how ideal this would be. top 25 team, perfect fit. Location makes me think this would not work out.
BYU- Similar to Gonzaga. National following. But Not catholic, location, and also Sunday restrictions for TV scheduling
Davidson- If somehow we got by the tier 1 teams, there is not much left. Davidson has some credibility and is likely the best of the available lower level schools.

Tier 3: IF only...
Duke-Dream fit. Private, academic, basketball is king. But would never leave ACC and football is on the rise.
Boston College- Past success, recognizable name, Large market. But Terrible fan support. Committed to Football.
Vanderbilt- Good school, name recognition, would fit with the current 10. New market. If only there was no football.
Wake Forest- Similar to Vanderbilt
--obviously there are others that would be good fits, but something is in the way of making it work.

The Dream schools would be great in theory but I do not see a Duke jumping ship. Realistically I think we will go to 12 schools. St. Louis should be a shoe in. Then I will let others decide between Dayton and Richmond. It is pretty clear that after that, there is not much out there. I think they should move quickly. Get to 12, and move on from there.

Could not agree more. I know that our new Big East brethren probably think they have seen almost everything, but trust us, there is not a more rotten, soulless fan base on the planet.
