My bad thanks for bringing me back. I'm good now.

I put G'Town and Marquette as remaining the same until they prove they can play like G'Town and Marquette consistently. To me, that means being dominant teams in conference. Not sure if that will happen after a few bad losses. G'Town without Porter or Whittington hurt them a ton. Can they still get in the top 25? Marquette lost some real tough ones, but as I said with our close Cuse loss, it's still a loss. At some point there needs to be a significant winning streak by both teams. G'Town was a top 10 team last year...I think even top 5 at one point. I remember Marquette being 15 if not better. We need more from these teams...they are supposed to be our always ranked, reliable guys along with Nova. Hopefully if one of them keeps faltering, SJ or Xavier can turn in good years to make up for it and lessen the blow.

The Jays have a TOUGH game with Cal on Sunday. If they can get a W in that one they will be trending up as they head into the conf. season.

Kind of ironic that their poor performance in CA sent them heading down overall and now with a win against Cal it should send them trending back upwards.

Funny, when making the list I thought the same. I wanted to wait until the hopeful Cal win to have them trending up. They should be ok.

it'll be interesting to compare this list on Monday to now. After this weekend- 7 teams have 1 game left OOC. 5 teams have left dogs OOC after this weekend. Other 5 have 1 tough game left.

I think for me- from going into the season-
Nova- trending up
Creighton- neutral at best
Georgetown- slightly down
Marquette- trending down
St John's- slightly up
Xavier- trending up
Butler- trending up
Providence- slightly down(just because of the injuries/suspensions)
DePaul- slightly up
Seton Hall- slightly down

biggest surprise- probably Butler- I think I thought they were going to be DePaul/Seton Hall bad just with the Jones injury and the coaching change- along with the tougher conference(which still to be seen)
biggest disappointment- Marquette- thought they would have done more than they've done so far.

*Changed to which teams have a chance of being selected on Selection Sunday

Team Pomeroy
Villanova 5 Strong Chance
Creighton 19 Strong Chance
Georgetown 29 Good Chance
Marquette 35 Good Chance
St. John's 49 Good Chance
Xavier 55 Good Chance
Butler 57 Good Chance
Providence 70 Not Likely {depth is a problem: Dunn's injury and 2 suspended freshmen}
DePaul 128 Not Likely {barely beat week competition, Florida Atlantic and Chicago State}
Seton Hall 136 Not Likely {injuries}

here's Sagarin . . .

4 - Villanova
21 - Creighton
34 - Marquette
35 - Georgetown
55 - St. John's
57 - Xavier
58 - Butler
79 - Providence
139 - Seton Hall
146 - DePaul

Not a big difference form Ken Pom, but here's TeamRankings.com . . .

1 - Villanova
35 - Creighton
39 - Butler
49 - Marquette
56 - St. John's
64 - Georgetown
73 - Xavier
90 - Providence
109 - DePaul
160 - Seton Hall

Some major discrepancies here, which simply tells us that there's not sufficient data yet to have a clear picture. There's still a lot of volatility and teams will be moving up and down. Worth noting that this system has Villanova #1 in the country. It sure would be nice if they can keep that up! :o

If Marquette can beat New Mexico Saturday in a "neutral court" game in Las Vegas, I have to say they're trending up, given that their last three losses were by a combined 16 points, and all in hostile territory (@ Wisconsin, @ Arizona State, vs. San Diego State in Anaheim).
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

I wouldn't from the start of the season to now. Maybe from the last 2-3 weeks yes.
