I don't think anyone knows who or what you're talking about. Who said 7-3 is not respectable? And what does Providence have to do with Xavier's record?

Creighton assistant Patrick Sellers (ex-UConn asst) had an interesting interview on Omaha radio. He said he was surprised by CU's detailed game planning for opponents, said BE teams don't game plan for opponents with as much detail as CU and Valley teams do. He thought BE teams work on improving their own game. Said an Nebraska asst who was at Georgetown last year noticed that NU was more detailed on opponents than GT as well.

Could be a case of teams with better athletes (Big East) who need work on their own games, as opposed to teams with guys who win by making adjustments to their shortcomings. Anyway, hadn't heard that before.

PC had some tough losses, so ultimately I expect Xavier to end up a better team than PC. PC got off to a red-hot start, but is slowing down. They only beat Brown and URI by a handful combined. They escaped another one by the skin of their teeth recently too I believe. At some point the odds go the other way for a team. Beating those teams by a few points is a loss in the conference part of the schedule. Again, hope PC does well, but I think they level off a bit and end up as an NIT team.

This could also have something to do with Creighton being used to the MVC with the double round robin, so they would have a book on all the teams they play so thick- while BE schools didn't have that. Nebraska while not in a round robin setup would see 7 teams 2x while Georgetown would have seen say 3 teams 2x.

That makes sense, too. Bound to be yet another adjustment for everybody.

I'm admittedly partisan, but it's a little unfair to pile on Marquette for "bombing" to start the year. I suspect this opinion is mostly colored by the Ohio State game, which was admittedly, an asskicking at the Bradley Center.

However, MU's other three losses were by a combined 16 points, to three teams with a combined record of 29-3, and all were in hostile environments [Wisconsin (12-0) in Madison, Arizona State (9-2) in Tempe, San Diego State (8-1) in Anaheim]. The early part of the year was racked with injuries (Duane Wilson), departures (Jameel McKay), and the subsequent shuffling of personnel that sees players out of position and adjusting to new roles, particularly given the turnover the team already had to deal with after the entire backcourt from last year left.

They have been playing better each game since halftime of the Arizona State game. I think Buzz has finally figured out how to use his personnel in a way that should hopefully see the Warriors dancing for the 9th year in a row. Buzz has a history of finishing strong.
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

We'll know a lot more on Saturday. Right now, we just don't know much about Marquette- as their wins outside of GW are nothing. All I see for them this year so far is they have little margin for error in conference play to make the tourney. Not saying they have to go 16-2 or anything like that, but 11-7 may be required. With this new setup- who knows if they'd be able to do that.

I wonder if Providence's lack of depth (assuming the freshman stay suspended) will relegate them to the NIT. The top rotation guys have played a lot of minutes. PC barely beat both Yale and Rhode Island and did not win convincingly versus Fairfield (more than likely due to the lack of depth).

Plaver MIN
Bryce Cotton 36.9
Tyler Harris 31.2
LaDontae Henton 34.5
Kadeem Batts 29.3
Josh Fortune 28.6
Carson Desrosiers 19
Kris Dunn 26.5
Brice Kofane 5
Casey Woodring 1.7
Lee Goldsbrough 6.5
Ted Bancroft 4.7

The game against UMass will be a good gauge.
