"" big wins against the nations best teams year after year ""

VCU UD Richmond beat multiple ranked teams on a regular basis every year.

The bottom feeder BE teams that you mention had the luxury of playing Syracuse, Pitt, Ucon, Louisvellle et all at home

UD VCU Richmond don't get the chance, they have to get their ranked wins on the road or neutral sites. Ranked teams don't play away games these teams

Look at UD record against BCS schools over past 10 years, it is something like 15 - 6.

No fan or fanbase is going to be making these decisions. The chances of this league going beyond 10 teams is roughly 0.0000%

Just looking quickly, seems like Dayton hasn't beaten multiple ranked teams in one season since 08-09 (the memories  ) and Richmond since 10-11.

Why about Boston University? Has that ever come up as an option?

Major TV market. Check
Private University. Check
No D1 Football. Check
Upgraded athletic program. Check (new arena for their high-profile hockey and used for bball; added women's and men's lacrosse)
Regional Travel easy for Eastern member institutions. Check
Large, active, wealthy Alumni base focused in major metro areas (i.e. TV Markets). Check.

While really no hoops tradition to speak of, maybe inclusion in a conference like the BE gives them the needed bump. UConn was NOTHING before they joined the Big East... Georgetown was NOTHING before they joined the Big East. Syracuse's biggest rival before they joined the Big East was Siena.

Just a thought.

Should it?

Could it?

I mean, it's gotta be at least as good an option as VCU, Dayton, or Richmond based on the real reason the BE would expand and that would be TV markets.

I very much agree with Boston University being a great fit on everything except for their basketball performance. They are the antithesis of flavor of the month - the only reason you would pick them is because they tick all the boxes except performance. (Umass is an example of flavor of the month).

Would the extra money from joining the big east be enough to push them up? If not, they could be a Fordham/Depaul like RPI weight around our ankles.

If they could shape up their bball squad to have a top say, 80-90? RPI consistently, I think they join St. Louis at the front of the Big East invite line.

Alright - you articulate why BU is a bad fit, outside of their performance which I conceded, and agree would have to improve before they were a candidate.
