lets see....
VCU has 2 top 100 ken pom wins right now.. 24 Virginia and 83 Belmont both on the road.
Seton Hall- no
DePaul- no
Providence- 1 top 100 win over 98 Vandy. VCU's resume better
Butler- 3 top 100 wins, but none better than 68 Princeton. 2 home and 1 neutral site a wash quite frankly
St John's- 2 top 100 wins, 83 Ga Tech and 85 Bucknell- both home. VCU's resume better
Marquette- 1 top 200 win, 67 GW.

Sorry but I don't see it. They have better wins than SH, DePaul, PC, SJ, and Marquette right now- and it's not close. Now, SJ can change that tomorrow and Marquette can change that on Saturday. But, at this point, it's just not the case....

These are my sentiments as well. I've had enough of conference expansion talks after the past few years. I actually just want to enjoy watching college basketball this year and not have to worry about who should/shouldn't join us. Let's go BIG EAST!!!!

The conference isn't expanding anytime soon. I'd be absolutely shocked if it occurred within the next 5 seasons. No one wants to expand and there are no obvious candidates - not 1, much less two.

Just stop. This has been obvious for a LONG time.

Actually the new Xavier AD was quoted just a few months ago as saying that the conference will in fact expand precisely within that 5 year window. So, consider yourself shocked.

VCU is an obvious candidate, but I agree that there is no one else unless they want to do something radical like pulling in Gonzaga.

No, VCU or any other public school aren't candidates. If VCU was going to be a candidate, they'd already be in the conference. A 10-team league with Xavier, Butler, and VCU makes a hell of a lot more short term sense. Look at a map.

VCU is clearly not an option. To repeat, there just aren't candidates.

Like someone mentioned, they've benefitted from a high preseason ranking, as well as a ridiculously high early ranking for Virginia. Their loss vs Florida State was a disaster, 25+ point blowout most of the game and it was worse than any BE loss this year. No way are they or their resume better than half the Big East. They're better than DePaul, Seton Hall (probably?), and that's it. Hopefully they can rebound and win at a bad Virginia Tech and at Boston College... otherwise the effin ACC will claim 2 more "good wins" by beating a very average team. Jheesh...

Meanwhile, UConn remains the obvious prime candidate.

Neither UConn or VCU are joining, but UConn is 100x more attractive.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

Edrick, everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I respect yours. However, I ask what you mean by "No one wants to expand..." Who is No One? If you have polled all 10 Big East Presidents, and they are 100% against expansion, or if you have spoken to FS1 executives, then your opinion certainly has huge validity. There are maybe 150 regular to semi regular posters on this board, and from what I read, there is no significant majority one way or the other.

I for one am in favor of expansion. Being in the Midwest, we need more schools where travel for non-revenue sports doesn't consume two to three days. The obvious MW targets are SLU and Dayton, and I'm throwing in Loyola. They do have the same number of NCAA National Championships as Marquette, Georgetown and Villanova, and I think we need to double down on Chicago. DePaul ain't gonna cut it short term or long term. The new gym will work for a year or two, but it won't convert the Windy City to the Big East. Loosing Notre Dame was a blow to the Chicago market. Loyola won't replace them, but would give DPU a helping hand in raising the banner. And it's a convenient bus ride to have our soccer team play two games in Chicago rather than one.
