No one is denying that UConn didn't look good coming into the tourney, but the Selection Committee isn't concerned with how a team "looks" late in the season. They are concerned with what a team has done that season on a whole, and UConn had easily done enough to make the tournament

The problem that year wasn't Uconn's last ten (obviously) it was the fact that they only finished 9th during conference play. That was a HUGE hurdle to climb regardless of how good they proved they were in the OOC.

I disagree. It doesn't matter if it's a "category". The committee wants teams that are playing well going into the tournament, which is what "last ten" was about. They've freed themselves from having to defend challenges based on the precise "last ten games" record, but they're still looking at a team's momentum going into the tournament.
There is no way that UConn was making the tournament. Their team had been decimated by injuries and their record down the stretch reflected that. Not only were they missing their center and his backup, their 3 and their 6th man, but Napier was playing on one leg in their last game and was hobbling around on campus in a boot that Monday. He was not available for the tournament either. The fact is that by season' send, UConn was a bubble team and injuries push teams off the bubble in the wrong direction.

I don't think the committee looks at conference rank all that seriously. I mean, 2 years ago, the committee didn't take conference champ Washington, but did take 2nd place California. The only thing conference play does is the 16-18 games you play in conference then your tourney.

But that shouldn't apply to the BE as much now we have a true round robin.

going back to what we were originally talking about- Nova if they are just competent in conference will be in no matter what. They've done enough OOC for that to be the case(similar to UConn a few years ago)....
