I think one thing you can't forget is they are still getting games at MSG. UConn played 2 there already with their tourney. Cuse this weekend. They'll almost for sure sign up in tournaments that allow them to play there- which is huge for them- maybe even bigger than playing us.

Uconn, Cuse benefited greatly by the BE tournament and are still big names with great recruits coming in, but I wonder what effect playing their conf tournament in NC and Memphis will have on recruiting.

Pitt is 9-0,so what is wrong with their recruiting. True, they haven't played a tough schedule except for Stanford and perhaps Penn State, but undefeated is undefeated. Need to give credit where it is due.

From a Midwest perspective, UConn and Syracuse are national brands. UConn has a possible Player of the Year candidate in Napier. I think they are doing just fine.

Fair point, but the issue is exposure. If all they are left with is one or two games a year at MSG, that may not be enough. Right now they get those games PLUS all of the games with the C7.

Honestly, I don't really care one way or the other, but was just trying to make a point that if people want to see a fall-off in Syracuse's recruiting in the greater NY metro area, it is going to take more than their move to the ACC. When C7 schools continue to schedule them, it is almost like they never left. Each school has to make their own decision based upon their financial situation, and maybe they need the game for monetary purposes (I've seen some of the lack of attendance for certain C7 members), so I am not telling anybody to do anything. I just think it is unreasonable to expect the recruiting to tick downward when they keep getting to play plenty of games within that market.

My point though is by them playing in tournaments that end at MSG, they're going to still get to play there- no matter what the C7 does. I mean, UConn has played more at MSG this year than St John's so far. Think about that. As long as those teams are getting to do that- we can't stop that exposure at all.

The effects of realignment will be felt over time. BC didn't fall off the map right away. It also will take time for our programs to fill the void, like SHU, PC, SJU, heck even CU is recruiting the northeast now.

Right, BC still played with Big East recruits on their roster for a couple of years when they first joined the ACC, so they had some solid years at first.

Pitt and Syracuse are doing that right now too. Syracuse will continue getting recruits til Boeheim leaves. Pitt I think is a different story. Their recruiting bread-and-butter over the years has been metro-NY. But they really haven't been in any conversation with 2014 NY recruits... like, they were 3rd or 4th in line for Isaiah Whitehead but other than that they've been invisible.

West Virginia's collapse has come way faster than expected.

The Big East is way ahead of schedule, I think, in the recruiting wars. I figured over several years we'd be able to really do well, but the 2014 class was fantastic for us. I mean, one scenario that could've played out was that the BE recruiting would slump, and we'd be scrambling to get our mojo. Instead it exceeded what I was expecting with a ton of top-100 and top-150 recruits.

The OG BE was formed in 1979-80 season, by the 1984-85 season we had 3 teams in the final four! The power of recruiting, great historic programs & an ambitious fledgling TV partner!

I kind of think that next year would be the year where we'll learn a lot about recruiting. By the time the split got announced, a lot of the recruiting had already taken place- initial contacts made, etc. Next year, it's the full impact of the split.

A lot about who? X, SHU, PC, GU, MU, VU, SJU. All these schools have proved they can recruit at elite level or just recruited core elite players for the next few years. I would say only DePaul, Butler & CU but not to the same degree have recruiting questions to answer in 2015.

Few things-
1- as PC has shown us- recruits can go up in smokes quickly.
2- All the schools you mentioned started recruiting those players before the split happened. Next years class will be the 1st one where the split has taken place and the full impact will be known.
