"Brian Blaney, the assistant coach at Providence College in charge of scheduling, was asked if the Friars had an interest in playing a two-game series against Kentucky. One game would be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with the Wildcats controlling the tickets. A second would come at Rupp Arena in Lexington. John Calipari and his ’Cats wouldn’t consider a game at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center....The Friars sold their 1,000 tickets quite a while ago. The rest of the 18,000 will be painted Kentucky Blue. Barclays and Kentucky hosted a similar one-shot game with Maryland last November. That game sold 17,700 tickets."

I will say this...

Providence has played much better against top competition than either Georgetown vs Oregon or St John's vs Wisconsin..... Even if they lose, they're on the right track...

Not looking much different than Wisconsin's win over SJ. The 2nd half we were better than them and many people think if we would have had a different defensive scheme switch we could have won it.

What the hell is going on? DePaul is the only one to win out of these games? Comeon MArquette, get this.

Turning into a blow out at Barclays. Kentucky has just worn them down. It appears that the PC players have lost their legs. There's time left, but the eye test says this game is over.

The arena is not sold out. Most of the upper bowl is covered by a curtain.

Unfortunately this is looking more like a 2 bid league right now. Nova is the clear frontrunner. And I think Creighton or G'Town gets the 2nd. There are going to be too many teams with 16 and 17 wins by the end of the year. That just won't cut it. Butler, Marquette, Creighton, SJ, and Xavier cannot even be counted on right now.

think this may be also more about how good Kentucky is. They've looked really good. Not perfect by any stretch- but they're going to be a handful this year....

I think we'll get 3 for sure, and more likely 4. With teams getting 10 OOC wins almost certainly- 3rd/4th place teams will go 10-8 or 11-7. That gets them to 21-10- and that's good enough.

the hope now is that Nova runs thru the league and goes like 15-3. If that happens, they maybe get a 2-3 seed and could do some serious damage

"well um" "difficult" "nearly impossible". Like I said which teams should give up NCAAT hopes b/c of this weekend?

with all of the teams with 2-3 losses now, whoever finishes 5th/6th- if they are one of those teams- it's going to be very tough. No matter who it is just about now. The only one really exempt is Nova-but I don't see them finishing 5th/6th, do you?

Simple question, if the BE is now a 3-4 bid league b/c of this weekend, which teams now have no chance? I'm not even counting the auto bid from the BET?

As other people have said (I think), no team eliminated themselves this weekend (though teams like Xavier certainly didn't help their case) but as whole we just don't look strong.

As I've been saying for weeks, we have a LOT of good, not great teams. When these teams just beat up on each other in the conference and finish with good, not great records then it's going to come down to their OOC schedules and to a lesser extent how the rest of the conference fared during the OOC slate. Right now, that doesn't look anything more than average. I still think there are 8 teams who have the opportunity to make a tournament caliber resume (sorry Seton Hall and DePaul) but making that resume is going to involve stringing together a group of conference wins. When these teams are playing each other that is going to become impossible for all of those 8 teams (or even 4-5 most likely) to do that.

Trust me, I want to see the Big East get 5 or 6 bids but if you still say that you think that is going to happen after most of what we've witnessed this weekend then I think you are just being a Big East homer. I just honestly think we are a 4 bid conference right now and part of me even thinks that may be too optimistic.
