There's a going joke with SJ fans that there is always significant bad news every single year

It could be worse, you could be DePaul.

DePaul is a MAAC team playing in the Big East. Sorry, it's true. They have no business being in a major conference. They have a legitimately good team if you look player by player. They have what I call "Mets Syndrome". That's when you are so bad for so long that even when you have talented players, the negative culture holds the team back.

Means time for a new coach, Purnell has had plenty of time to turn this sinking ship around.

Agreed, now that they have the stadium coming there's nothing wrong w/Depaul, a new coach is all that's needed. For those that know him, Jerrance Howard (Kansas Assistant now) would turn DePaul into a top program almost overnight. Possibly Rod Strickland or maybe party animal Bruce Pearl?
