I have a feeling that this board might get ugly when conference games start up. Until then..."can't we all just get along?" It's a long season.

To my Nova brother Westbrook, One thread doses not a fan base make. I hope I speak for all fan bases when I say we've all got a good thing going--great schools with rich hoops traditions, a fantastic TV contract in which we are all on every night, great recruiting classes coming in...it could have been a whole lot worse for all of us had these pieces not fallen into place. Let's let the season itself settle all bragging rights. I like our chances. ;-).

I'm sure there will be some "active" discussions, but it's our hope that everyone will remain civil.

Things may get ugly, I'm still holding out some hope.

Not that I'm saying Westbrook is necessarily wrong, I have no idea as I haven't bothered to go look at the Xavier boards, but if there's one thing I've learned about him it's that he tends to overreact...often. See the page in this thread where he claims someone said Nova was NIT bound. I've read every post on every thread since joining this forum, I think that's something I would have noticed due to it's absurdity.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I over react?, you mean like the over reaction of Marquette fans during the off season when anyone doubted that they might not be quite as good as they think? You mean like that? Those in glass houses ...

BTW how's that working out for Marquette this season so far? Also, I was sort of being facetious or exaggerating the NIT comment, but their have been more than one poster on this board who has referred to Nova as an NIT team prior to the season. I will try and find, but it could take a while. But it's not just limited to here, I've read BE previews from the newspapers and beat writers covering the new teams and I know for a fact that Steven Pivovar who covers Creighton has straight up called Nova an NIT team.

Big mistake to analyze fellow posters, someone whom you've never met. Message boards start going down hill when posters start becoming the subject of discussion instead of their ideas.

Westbrook overreacts? Please. Take into account that it's easy to misinterpret what someone is saying when you can't read their body language, when the written word includes nonsense of the vocal inflection with which a comment might be delivered, and when posters are busy, multi-tasking, and writing in haste.

This stuff is for fun. It's for an exchange of ideas. It's not for playing arm chair psychologist about someone else's temperament. Westbrook's ideas are as valid as anyone else's. It's the ideas that are the point, not the personalities, which are impossible to understand in this forum anyway.

Please take my outbursts like you would if you were at a bar shooting the shit with a good rival buddy. I'm meaning most all of this with HEAVY loads of sarcasm and facetiousness mixed in, pretty much just trying to give everybody a hard time. I'll try to tone it down a little bit.

I have no problem with your outbursts. I actually kind of enjoy them. I see it the same way you do - just a bunch of guys standing around the water cooler at work spouting off during coffee break. Keep 'em coming! :D

This post is an example of an overreaction. You immediately go from my post to insults directed toward Marquette. That's neither an effective argument nor a reasonable reaction. This is the internet, you have time to consider your posts and edit them before hitting "submit." If you would rather argue that your posts are not meant to be taken in the way they are read, go ahead. I'm a reasonable person, I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. In fact, where is Friarfan at? It would appear he was correct about the work we have to do this season (props to Bill Marsh as well). We have massively under performed as a team, and that sucks for the league and us. These things happen, we will bounce back eventually.

As far as I can tell Mr. Pivovar is not a poster on this board, so that has absolutely no meaning whatsoever to this conversation. Neither do any newspaper writers or media members. You don't get to crap on posters over what some guy loosely affiliated with the Bluejays said preseason.

People analyze fellow posters in nearly every thread that has ever been posted on this or any other board. It happens, you do it, I do it, it's not a cardinal sin. Yes, he overreacts, look at his response for an example. He often takes posters fairly mild comments and infers disrespect toward Nova or Wright. This in turn leads to arguments where posters actually do wind up insulting each other, other peoples' teams, and in essence becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. In fact, I would call that one of the worst kinds of analyzing.

The fact that this is online is not an excuse. You have the ability to read your posts and edit. There is no reason to write in haste..

This is for fun, you are correct. Everyone's ideas are equally valid. I'm no more an armchair psychologist than anyone else, but thanks for analyzing me.
